This movie is so good. A good non stop horror show. Sarah Michelle Gellar gives a fantasic performance, and I hope there is a Grudge 2 in the works.

Watch the original Japanese version... It makes this one look like little jimmy's lego's... as did Ringu to the Ring.

I hate American remakes.  They are so absurd.  It's like... what's the point... Do something new, something original for once... America is home to redundancy... in music, in movies and in TV... We are so far behind in multi media it's not even funny.

However, I do respect your opinion and taking a stance on your own taste.  So, I say to you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I was not scared once. I laughed throughout the whole movie.

This movie was horrible. I have yet to see the japanese version (the REAL version) but I can probably assure you it is better then this. Ringu and the Eye are amazing japanese horror flicks and I swear I aquirted a pee a little bit in each one.... just kidding. But this version of The Grudge made me laugh... alot. Good comedy, but since it was meant to be "the scariest movie of the year" as said on commercials, I give this movie a 1.5/5 simply because Sarah Michelle Gellar did an good job acting the crap lines she had fed to her. my 1.5/5 goes to her because I know, deep down, she knew this movie sucked.

The Grudge was the funniest movie I've seen this year.

Everyone in the theatre could not stop laughing or talking, it was boring as fuck. I mean the second it started (initally when the guy jumped off the building) no-one could stop laughing. The only reason I went to see it was for Sarah Michelle Gellar, and even she couldn't save this piece of 90-minute crap.

I expected alot more out of it, especially since Sarah was so exited about it and praised it so much. Never trust a blonde.

Anyways, she's not doing part 2 (thank god!) but she is doing Southland Tales, which I can't wait for, but subconciously I think it won't be made, she signed onto it March 2004 and it still doesn't have a steady cast or production date.

THE BEST COMEDY OF 2004.

I haven't seen it yet.
For me "The Forgotten" is the inadvertant comedy of the year.

I've not seen the Forgotten. But no no no, I'm SURE the Grudge beats it. Go see it with some friends and laugh your ass off.

I couldn't stand the grudge! It was too long and boring. They needed to get their stuff together with this and take a few notes from some GOOD horror movies.

"The Grudge" was pretty bad, I saw it a few months ago and I'm still kicking myself for renting this shit. At least the girl with the missing jaw was interesting...

I rented it and fell asleep watching it.

I was freaked out and couldn't sleep for a day, I hate movies that do that. I mean you know it's coming because horror films are so predictable but it still works with these films anyway.

The other end with TCM and that crap they work about as good as a broken leg.

Again, this falls into my category of 'Why bother if the same director is involved?' Spend the money giving the Japanese version a good North American release and leave it at that.

This one felt like it was meant to be a big North American movie, but had the pull towards being more Japanese at the same time. It never really settled into a good groove as I watched.

I think if it were handed to an American director it would turn out to be crap like 75% of the films made today in this genre, they don't know how to make good horror anymore. They have settled into a groove of the same sequels every other year.

Not enough foreigners are given the chance that bad American directors are on a daily basis who screw up franchises for us all. Paul Anderson comes to mind, a lot of you hate him.

All they had to do was put RE, AVP in the hands of some good director and a writer who agrees to stay true to the source who both follow instructions we wouldn't be having these discussions today.

Most American directors can't direct shit. Right now, we're too obsessed with money, and shoving tired pseudo-intellectual messages down audiences throats and passing them off as art.

Every once in a while a quality made film comes out, but most of the time it's quick PG-13 rated horror films, and lame ass comedies.

im with ziggy all the way, but zig, what do you see as quality films, just wondering

You said we as in you so does that mean you are just like them?

I don't get how any film minus Lord of The Rings can be pg-13. Unless it's a highly religious film there should be swearing, normal people swear.

They have unrated versions of pg-13 films why not just have both version on 1 dvd so that you don't have people waste hard earned money on one version and to see another buy another.

STOP making pg-13 films just to get a larger audience, all they are is lies fed through the straw you call Hollywood. Full of selfish pricks... I mean the rich and famous,  nah I meant selfish pricks with way too much money for minimul to no talent.

Hollywood is a cesspool of greedy bastards waiting to drain any franchise they get their hands to the bone.
I have nothing against PG-13 in general,  only when a film is censored on the sole purpose of greed. Unless someone like Shyamalan is directing PG-13 should be reserved for other genres.

Ryan, as for quality film, usually you can tell when something is made honestly and when something is churned out to make a quick profit.
"Garden State" and "Eternal Sunshine" are quality films, same with the "Kill Bill' series, "Dark City",basically any Kevin Smith film. A film I also enjoyed was
"Sky Captain and the World of Tommarrow" since despite it's PG rating it worked for the film. The script and film had been crafted and the rating worked...

I thought Sky Captain was a little boring and well it was just really boring. I loved the visual style though, that's some points they deserve for originality.
