In my opinion, I think this soundtrack is very good. It features "Orpheus" and "Meltdown" by Ash, a good Queen and Eighties B-Line Matchbox Disaster song.

However, is it me or in the film itself, aren't these songs placed in very randomly? Tracks are supposed to play in with what's happening and I feel these are just placed in for the hell of it.

I know on the website Pegg said some songs were put in for effect (like the Queen song, which was a parody of the ballet attack on the homeless man in Clockwork Orange) while others they just threw in just so they could. It was just an excuse to use some of their favorite songs.

Which is perfectly fine by me.

Yeah... That Queen one was essential to beat down the landlord with the snooker cues, it is one of the best gags of the film.

I still think the soundtrack is very good, just it doesn't work into the film like other soundtracks do (eg: Donnie Darko). I believe that a soundtrack really helps to tell the narrative and somehow Shaun Of The Dead is a great film without the carefully timed music.

It's all good I guess! And dogs can't look up!  ;D
