SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  My Work In Progress  /  Work In Progress - Please Read This First

Simple rules to make this board more effective for those who need help.

1. Use the screenplay title in the topic - wip, if it has no title say Untitled (genre)  - wip if not it may be locked and/or deleted.

2. Post more than just an idea. Try to post the first 5 to 10 pages or a treatment.

3. Logline and genre may be helpful.

Note: You are responsible for hosting the script on a service like Google Docs or Dropbox as SimplyScripts doesn't host partial scripts.

Just a little bump and clarification to this topic, since people have had tendency to ignore the various comments posted in the actual threads.

Rule 2 means that if you got an idea 15 minutes ago, the script isn't halfway done. An idea is not a "Work In Progress." It's an idea.

If you have a working treatment or are stuck on a particular part of your actual working story, that's cool too. Te board is for help, though, not promotions. Trust us when we say that few ideas are actually "bad." Usually ideas fail in the execution.

So if you're posting your endless ideas, please don't. If you have a Work In Progress that you're stuck on, you've come to the right place.

And title your thread with the title of the script.

"My Screenplay" or "My Series" will get deleted and then you'll have to type it all over again.  There was a time that half the threads on the WIP board were "My Script" or something like that.

Even a working title is OK.  You can change it later.

And if you ain't got a title yet -- well, then you ain't got a true work in progress.  What you've got is an idea in progress.

Sorry to bother, How would i post my script up here, as it is not finished.  Do i submit it like a normal script.  It would be a lot to copy and paste.

Thank you

Just start a thread asking for input on your script and a link to it like Dropbox, Google drive or such. Don does not post works in progress.  :)

Just looking at the WIP sub-heading on the thread... It really needs amending (Don?)cause it contradicts the Sticky - that scripts must be at least half way completed:

Discuss what you are working on.  Post the first few pages of your script.  Share your treatment.

Just noticed it that's all.

I agree, Libby. Also - many of these probably belong here:

Simplyscripts Collaborative Effort

BUT - I was probably on the site a year before I realized that thread was not dedicated to writing with someone else (i.e., I thought it was writers looking for collaborators). That probably could use a title change to draw some folks there - E.G, LOOKING FOR HELP - or something more informative is to what the thread is about.
