I can't believe that none of our resident slasher fans (and you know who you are) have weighed in on this one yet!  Many people around here have been bemoaning the death of the slasher genre, but at least this film shows that its vital signs remain intact.  It has been a while since a nice, hard "R" made the rounds, and this one is not for the kiddies.

I just got home from seeing this with a nice buzz (that lingers still), so pardon any typos.  If you sometimes enjoy libations of some form before a film, this one is good for it.  There is little thinking involved.

It is a French import, with lousy dubbing, but this ain't art-house, so it doesn't matter.  The strength of this film is that once it starts going, it goes...and goes...and goes.  I can't recall a down momment.  Really.  It's got a little T&A.  And it's got a nice twist, even if true fans of the genre will see it coming a mile away.

As far as WMDs, aside from the usual stuff, you have a stick wrapped in barbed wire, and some kind of power tool I don't even know what the heck it was.  It looked like maybe you would cut concrete with it or something.  And the best chunk-of-glass-in-the-foot scene I ever recall.  I seldom cringe, but this one got me.

So anyways.  Slasher fans go see this.  It's better than the usual dreck.  Even if it is French (go figure).

Actually on page 2 someone has but yeah I've heard about this film but I can't stand the genre so I haven't went to see it. They reviewed it as Haute Tension.

Yeah, "Haute Tension" in France, and "Switchblade Romance" in England (a completely retarded title).  They liked it, too, and everything those guys wrote in their thread was right on.
