Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez continue to adapt Miller's "Sin City" graphic novels, this time with the second book "A Dame to Kill For," an earlier story of Dwight McCarthy (Clive Owen's character), whose life is turned upside down when Ava, a woman from his past returns, saying she loves him and causing all sorts of problems for him.

Any thoughts?

I don't know the comics but I hope they continue along the same lines as the first because it's one of the best films made in the last 5 - 10 years.

I'm not sure if they can match the first but I hope they can.

Aren't they making 2 and 3 at the same time? That's what I've read.

I'm not sure if that many people liked the first one to make a sequel...I loved the movie, not for the story (which is awesome) but for the fact that its SIN CITY!!!! Frank Miller is a hero of mine...the blood and gore was awesome, but I think a sequel is coming just from the hype of the Comic book turning to movie thingy...thats my thoughts.

I haven't seen the first one yet either but I'm gonna get the DVD. Frank Miller rocks!

I've seen only the trailers but not the full film, I don't think I'll get the DVD even though I like the film from what I've seen. Honestly if you had seen my collection of DVDs you'd notice they are mostly of the HORROR genre which is the genre I buy on the most.

But The film is good from the pieces I've seen but Buying it isn't simply for me, I have got the book of the pictures in it and the script but not the DVD.

I enjoyed Sin City, for the visual spectacle more than anything else. I didn't think the story was all that great and a lot of the voiceover sounds canned, but it was faithful to the comics.

Visually, the film is unique and probably the best live action dramatization of a comic book I've seen. I just wonder whether the novelty will wear off. I heard they were planning to make this a trilogy. If so, they'll need more than visual flair and extreme violence to keep me hooked.

Ah, so I see we'll get to know Dwight's past more in part 2. Sad thing, though, Jessica Alba won't be in the sequel.  :( I did hear that she might do a cameo, but that's all. Damn it! I hope things change.  :)

Sin City is amazing and really, and I mean really, cool for it is: a hard-boiled and in-your-face action movie. It's awesome. A must-see. If anyone says it's stupid, they don't want to accept the violene and grimness of it because they're used to movies that's afraid or doesn't want to cross the line between appropiate and extremely not-appropiate for the everyday movie goers. Sin City, truly, is one of a kind. And I cannot wait for the sequel-- which should be out in 2006 or 2007 during the summer.

Update.

List of returning characters, and remember "A Dame to Kill For" takes place before the events of the first film chronologically. That's why several of the characters that were killed in the original movie are returning for the second.

Mickey Rourke (Marv), Clive Owen (Dwight), Brittany Murphy (Shellie), Rosario Dawson (Gail), Jaime King (Goldie/Wendy), Michael Clarke Duncan (Manute).

I saw Sin City this morning on PayPerView. Wow. The visuals and colors are great. I hate gore but the movie made up for it. God, there were so many stars in that movie. I'm glad the second one is a prequel. It's too bad that there's a big possibility that Hardigan would be in jail in this prequel. I bet that's why Miller's not bringing him back.

How much nudity was in the first movie? This sounds really interesting but I'm 14 and not allowed to see it because it says it has nudity in it. How much? Is it to much for a 14 year old boy?

Yeah, but I'm not allowed to see nudity, and doing so goes against my beliefs...and...my dads belt. he he.  Anyway, is there a lot of nudity or is it just a BAM! looks away! BAM! It's over! type of thing?

There are a few scenes with nudity, mainly topless women but then there is the entire middle portion of the film, which focuses on hookers defending their turf, needless to say they aren't exactly wearing a lot of clothes.
