Hey Don,

I'm wondering if you can help me with this, please? No biggie, but I noticed it recently.

A lot of threads, which I've already read through to the very last post, are still showing up as "New" in the forum when I visit. I never log out, so my cookies are all there, but I am guessing something else is refreshing the board?

Just keep reading these 'new' threads till the end, thinking there's a new post, but turns out there aren't any! Also, sometimes my post is the last post on a thread and it shows up as new... That's the most confusing one of all! Perhaps it's always been like this, and I've been blind to it?!

Thanks,
Andy xxx

Any,

This is very odd.  Sometimes when I read a post and use my back button to go to the portal, the post I just read still says, 'new'.  That is a caching issue and when I hit refresh,  the 'new' goes away.

The file that keeps track of what you have read or not read is on the server so it shouldn't be a cookie issue.

Try using ctrl + f5 to do a hard refresh.  Could be that you are looking at a cached page.

hey Don,

Thanks. While this isn't a problem for me or anything, I was just a bit confused! I went to the general chat section, clicked on page 3, and saw that a couple of topics I posted - EG - "Funny Bunny Videos" were showing as new - and my post was the last post! Plus, there are others I haven't started which also show as new, but I have also read. Another one, the "Members in England" thread on page 3, is showing as new, even though it's one of my notifications, but I read all those replies already. That's why I was losing track of the new and read topics! I refreshed page 3 of general chat, but it stays the same. Must be my PC.

Do you think that whenever you delete posts or the user deletes them, that it causes that? Probably no-one else experiences this except me, so don't worry about it!! I was just curious about what it could be. I usually rely on my portal button anyway, just that when I come back from travelling, I'll think there'll be all these new posts when perhaps there won't be, given a certain time frame of course when I'm off. I'll catch up with what's been happening when I'm away anyway I'm sure! 8)

Thanks very much anyhow!

PS - I also log onto this site from my work account and stay signed in there too and read posts there. Do you think that might be it?
