Matthew Good - In A Coma

Matthew Good is one of the best artists out there. He's always sort of reminded me of a next generation R.E.M. Maybe thats just me, but it doesn't matter. All of his stuff is good, and his are some of the very few CDs I can actually listen to from start to finish in a single sitting without clicking to something else. A shame he's not more well known.

Darn kids today with their 'music.'

In A Coma is his greatest hits, in a nutshell. But it's a lot more than just that. Most greatests hits are one or two discs, with a bunch of the same songs with one or two new ones.

This set gets that out of the way on the first disc.

From the old (Hello Time Bomb) to the new (Alert Status Red), it's all here. Seventeen (yes, seventeen) tracks jammed into this one disc. That's quite some run time, well worth the cost. But that's not all, not by a long shot. There's a second disc with nineteen tracks, sort of the B-sides disc. Quite a bit of good stuff on this disc that I had never heard before.

And if you're still not filled up after all that listening, it's time for watching. All of his music videos are included, all of them. There must be a couple of hours worth. As an extra bonus (there's more!) almost every video includes a full length commentary from Good.

Sweet Jesus. And all for $22 Canadian (Americans will have to pay a bit more, he's Canadian after all. No Good for you!), how could you not get this set? This puts other recent greatest hits CDs (I'm looking in your direction, Offspring...) to complete and utter shame.

You had me worried to death... then I rememberd his G.H. was gonna be called that, HA!

R.E. I 100% agree with you... I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE M.G. I think he is the best artist in the world to day... Better than U2, better than Cold play "by far" His music speaks a world to me.

I 1st saw this band play in 2001 right before Genn left the band in Detroit and I was hooked.... I had to know who they were. I went out and started ordering their music and found that these guys produced the hands down best music in the 90's

Fuck Grunge! It was all about Matthew Good band and that melodic ring Genn could achive with his Les Paul...

Why these guys aren't famouse... I will never know.  I remember them snuffing Sony records once, though, so that might have a lot to do with their American status.

I love reading M.G. blog site. I visit it everyday. MATTHEWGOOD.ORG everyone... and anyone who would like know what a real artist is all about.

I just wish Dave Genn would come back and mend hearts with Matt, cause they haven't been the same since he left :(  Oh, well,  he's in that new band... they sound pretty hot too.

Good call on this G.H. It's brilliant and anyone who has never heard of M.G. should buy this cause it's a great way to get most of his material. History Teacher stuff excluded...

ROCK THE FUGG ON MATT GOOD!!!

Oh and the video's are worth the price alone... So you can see Dave Genn's Hair keep getting taller and taller and just to have a basic idea of how that man gets that incredible sound out of his guitar.

As a guitar player, myself, I just... he's just so fun to listen to. EDGE, of u2, even said that Dave Genn was an explosive guitarist and whenever he's feeling stuck on new sounds he'll listen to a M.G.B. cd

That blew me away... To even think Edge would know who Genn is, wow!

Anyways...

Big City life - is great -- Some of the lyrics are in my sig as a matter of fact.
Aparations - most beautiful song ever!
My life as a Circus clown -- Power house jam at the end.
In a World called Catastrophy -- Deep, meaningful song.
It's been awhile since I was your man -- Awesome couples song.
Strange Days - God his musis speaks to me.

I can be here all night with this guy and his music... I simply love love love them!

Oh, yeah, and the video for LOAD ME UP... WOW! Was that not an action packed mother ****er!? Love that video!

I love HELLO TIME BOMB too and well... I just love all of his stuff, everything he's ever done has been brilliant!  ENJOY THE SILENCE with GENN pounding that 12 - 9 - 10 is too hot, though! He rocks that song.
