Anybody seen or have written a martial arts screenplay? I'm bored to death with horror, action, drama and most genres. They aren't pure anymore they've become tainted terribly with unoriginal screenplays and writers who don't want to hear the truth.

I think you know what I mean, anyway I hope somebody has one up.

well think of any matial Arts film type its title in "aScriptSearch" and it might have the script.

I don't want to read REAL films, I meant unproduced scripts as in one somebody who is actually here to say yeah I wrote this... like that ha-ha

Unless you actually know martial arts, I wouldn't write one.  It kinda goes back to "virgins shouldn't write erotica."

What I'm writing has fighting in it but it's not a martial arts screenplay in the modern sense.

I'm guessing since nobody has written one or is here to say they have the genre is dead in America, Canada and most of this side of the world. I know a lot of people over in China or Japan write them as that's where most of the good martial arts films come from.

You have your opinion and I'd much rather try new things instead of writing sequels to my other scripts or banking on 1 script and becoming jaded and egotistical.

Would you also say you shouldn't write horror if you've never been killed in a slasher film? Or you shouldn't write a western if you've never been in the old west? Or you shouldn't write a comedy if you've never been a comedian?

You can use that for almost every genre, for erotica I do agree with you.

No one really knows what it like to have been killed by a lunatic.  And no one alive has experienced the old west.  You can make stuff up here.  Sex?  They'll know...

You can make things up as they do with porn because sex is not like that, a 10 minute blow-job followed by another 17 minutes of sex and finally a finale that lands on the partners face... ;) ;) ;) :P :o

Tell me you're not saying you need experience to write this kind of raunch. I know some films have scaled down versions of this but that is porn, very unbelievable, dirty and well flat out the opposite of the real thing.

But before we get into a discussion here I'll just say I am generalizing all erotica into porn which is wrong but I'm just making a point that it's not all about what you have to offer, it's if you have a good imagination.

Haha. You have a good point. But I think no one here writes martial arts scripts because no one know muchs about martial arts on here. Just my 2 cents.

I know some people but they all spend to much time in the horror genre to actually do anything.

I studied ju-jitsu until an injury forced me to stop.  My wife still studies it.  She also did some make up and special effects work for one.

Fight sequences are usually not written into a script in any detail and are choreographed by a fight coordinator.

Porn isn't meant to be real.  Everyone knows it.  It's meant to be over-the-top fantasy, no matter how much they claim thtey have a story and visions.

Those who watch porn, or slasher films, tend to leave reality at the door when they watch these movies.  It's generally accepted that they're not real and the viewers generally don't care.  In either case, they're looking for the money shot.

The same applies to martial arts movies.  It's just eye candy.  Writing a movie where there is fighting is one thing.  Mortal Combat or Kill Bill is something else.
