I just saw this last night. I must say, I thought it was very good. Everything about it was so well done. The acting, especially from Phoenix and Witherspoon, was absolutely perfect. It had me in tears at times and had me cheering at others. Great movie. 9.3/10

I'm finally getting the chance to see it tonight. I'll report back.

Great. Expected a lot and wasn't disappointed. For people who aren't recognized singers Joaquim and Reese did fantastic jobs with their singing.

The screenplay which I noticed was adapted from Johnny's autobiography was a cracker. We had John and June's love story, John's relationship with his dad and their pain over the loss of John's older brother and of course John's wonderful career.
Heaps of great scenes. I had goose bumps in the scene where he got his first recording contract and the Folsom prison concert was awesome.

I don't know if Joaquim will receive the Oscar for best actor because he's facing some pretty stiff opposition, but I can't see anyone beating Reese Witherspoon, she's a certainty

best movie of 2005.

Right on drexel. I can't believe it didn't get nominated for Best Picture. I'll definitely buy a copy when it comes out on DVD.

Reese Witherspoon received the Best Actress Award from the British Academy last night, for her work in Walk the Line. She's looking the goods for the Oscar now. But then again, I've always said she was a certainty. GO REESE!

Good on ya Reese, it was never in doubt. At the moment Australia is experiencing Johnny Cash mania, there are four Johnny Cash CDs in the Australian top 100 chart, 5 if you include the soundtrack to Walk the Line.

I just saw this. Reese Witherspoon definitely deserved her Oscar. This movie was so great, I want to run out and buy the DVD (I would if I had the money). I want to buy a Johnny Cash album, too. I loved it. I think it should've been nominated for Best Picture.

I totaly agree, I think it was by far the best movie of 2005, I have like 5 Johnny Cash cd's, he's the greatest, I've listened to him ever since i can remember.  I think it was better than crash and brokeback mountain.

Yep, it was the best picture I saw in the past 12 months. I currently have a Johnny Cash greatest hits compilation, but I would like to get the live a Folsom Prison CD and the American Recordings Volume 1 CD. I've heard songs off both and they are awesome.

I remember when he died... maybe a week later, my church played his last video "Hurt" on the big projection screens. I loved that song.. it was just his voice and his guitar, but it was great.

This was excellent. I thought it was a little too fastpaced starting out but it shaped up pretty quick. Reese Witherspoon was excellent as June Carter but Phoenix completely nailed the roll of Cash. My only complaint is that Cash's parents didn't seem to age at all throughout the film. Otherwise, brilliant.

Phoenix did nail the role as Cash...I thought they did a good job with that. This film, over all, was in the top 5 of the best films of the year, and deserves at least to be in the top 10 for one of the best films of all time. It was awesome.

Now I've got that "Ring of fire" song stuck in my head...he he he.

It wouldn't be in my top 10 of all time .. but it's pretty up there. I plan on buying the DVD once I get enough money.

"I fell in to a burning ring of fire...and it burns, burns, burns...the ring of fire!"

Oh...sorry...were you guys watching me?!

I'm telling you, I can't get that dag-on song out of my head...

"love is a burning thing, and it makes, a fiery ring, bound by wild desiers, I fell into a ring of fire"

This is in my top ten.  I think this is the best music biography I have ever seen, even better than Ray, which was also very good.  There was not one scene that felt false to me, or one performance that didn't feel real.  This is a movie I can say I absolutly love, I think this is a masterpiece.

I thought it was better than Ray, too. I mean it's *way* up there in my top movies of all time.

If anyone is interested you can now get a copy of the Walk The Line screenplay from Simply Scripts. I saw it advertised on the home page. While I'm here, I'll just add that Walk The Line is still in the top 10 here in Australia, 9 weeks after it's release.

I watched this again two nights ago and I seem to love it more and more.

Walk The Line has finally tumbled out of the national top 10, at the box office, after being there for 10 weeks, 4 of which were at number 1.
The Academy didn't nominate it for Best Picture, but the people have spoken.
Roll on the DVD release.

I'm glad to see that people have really embraced this film, this is a movie I watch over and over again and I never get bored with it, I think it's gonna move up higher on my top ten list :)

Watched it last night. THANK GOD for Reese Witherspoon, up until the time she came on screen NOTHING was keeping me interested. But from there on it did start to pick up. It was a good film, certainly not the best of 2005 or one of the top ten best either, IMO.

I liked the movie a lot. Phoenix did a great job in it. Johnny Cash rules!
