Yeah I've heard of "Sugar" Shane Mosley. If you're only 17 why don't you have a crack at making the Olympics, before you go pro? However, on the other hand if you really want to write scripts and make movies, you’re going to need a sharp mind.
So the question is can you afford to have your brain battered around and still be a good writer?  Perhaps you could keep doing both until it becomes obvious where your talent lies.

I'd agree with MacDuff I love boxing, I wish I could find the time to train and all but I'm lazy, out of shape and have no ambition... Wait no physical amibition, that's more like it.

Ever hear of an amateur named Bryan Mackie? He's been mentioned on In This Corner with Russ Anber here in Canada. The guy and his family live a street behind me, that's cool.

Anyway if you can't do both, go with boxing. Eventually you'd make enough money from that to take a year and make a movie or two which to me sounds like a great idea.

Oh, one more thing: film avery moment in your life, every people around you - what they say, what they think about you carrer - film yourself training, sleeping, loving - eating - boring - ungry - beated - beating etc etc

Same here. Only, it's not my car, it's my brothers.

You won't be boxing for ever. Everybody has their prime and everyone passes their prime. If you love them equally movies will still be their after you fight. Plus in your free time you can learn and write as much as possible if you want.

I really wish I got into boxing at a younger age. I know some stuff and will mess around with friends but it's something I always wish I did.

The area I'm from is really mixed racially and economically. I lot of the wealthier kids I know really don't dig boxing except for the fact that it's just two guys beating eachother up.  The boxing gym near me doesn't really have any good boxers or trainers so that's probably also why I never got into it. Just old men who wish they did it earlier.

Follow you heart. If it says both do both. I know you'd put in all your time into boxing if you had to go pro. Also I don't know what you want to do in filmmaking. Part of the business is trust. Look at a majority of the directors. Their major projects start when they're 30 and up. Why? Because who's going to trust a 19 year old with their money invested in a script.

These are just my opinons. And you're at a major cross roads in your life. You've got to do a lot of thinking about it on your own. Are you willing to put the amount of training that you put into for boxing into developing a career in filmmaking.
