SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Script Reviews  /  It's...*gasp*...#747!
Posted by: bert, May 7th, 2006, 10:57am
Yes, my friends, it’s real.  I’ve seen it.  I’ve got it.  A full 80+ pages in PDF.

And Curse told me that I could share it with you.

It’s a little derivative, sure, but not bad at all, really.  I’ve seen plenty of scripts from 13-year-olds around here, and by my estimation Curse is well ahead of the teenage curve.  In fact, I would go out on a limb and say he's got talent.

The script itself has a few chilling scenes, and a late twist involving the main girl’s relationship to her husband that just blew me away.  Seriously. It is marvelous, and you never see it coming.

The story has some problems, too, of course, particularly involving the types of information that you might actually find on the internet.  But there isn't anything that can't be fixed.

The format is pretty good, and the story is solid for the most part.

This is not a “bash Curse” thread!!

If you post something vindictive here you are a complete jerk and I will promptly mock you with scathing sarcasm. While I missed his “blaze of glory” exit speech, I never had any problems with the kid myself.  I found him to be clever and amusing, and most of his transgressions were no worse than what other people around here get away with just fine -- Curse just had an unfortunate penchant for making himself a target, I think.

This is intended to be a quiet little thread -- on a board that gets fairly little traffic -- for those who are genuinely interested in seeing how one of the most notorious screenplays ever to grace the boards of Simply Scripts actually turned out.

Let me know if you would like to see it and I will e-mail the file to you.  It is only available in PDF.

And, of course, if the powers that be deem this thread to be inappropriate in any way -- at any time -- I will take no offense whatsoever at its deletion.  You don't even need to tell me why.

Well, I guess we can't say something got #747'd anymore. Anyway, kudos to Curse for actually writing the thing. It's not often writers here go back and tie up loose ends.

Haha!  I might have to check this out.  The #747 precedes itself with a huge legacy on this board.

Well I, for one, think it’s fantastic. It’s great when someone “shows us all,” so to speak. Is it possible for someone to come back to the boards after being banned? Isn’t it possible that Kurse has learned his lesson? And maybe deserves a second chance? Who hasn’t behaved like an ass at some point in life? Can the prodigal son return?

I wanna see it.

I've been talking with him and he said he'd send it to me after he copyrights it...

He said he would e-mail it to me last week but that never happened but I'm still very curious as to how the story turned out .

I took the blame for his banning and I apologized to both Don and Curse, but I guess a ban is a ban.

I'd still love to read it though.

It occurs to me now that it would probably be prudent to point out that Curse is aware of this thread, and will likely be monitoring the posts here.

Hence, the request for no vindictive postings -- particularly given that he will be unable to respond -- and nobody likes a bully...

I selected the "Script Review" board for this thread on purpose -- so it would not be inappropriate to post here as to what you thought of the script once you've looked it over.

I've had three requests for copies so far, for those who might be interested.

I don't mind admitting I am one of he members who requested a copy of this script to read.

I don't know you Curse but I'll read your script for you and once I've done so I'll get back to Bert and see if I can get some feedback to you..

Curse, if you are monitoring this thread then I give Bert my permission to provide you with my email address so you may communicate with me if you so wish..

Well done writing an 89 page screenplay, a great achievement in itself..

For the record, no one can get another person banned.  You get banned for your own actions.  With that being said, I've cleared out the ban log.

Wait a minute?  Does this mean he gets to come back?  If it does, that's good news.

Curse has a big mouth and it gets him into trouble.

But -- the kid can also write a screenplay.

I look at...well, let's not name any names...but some of the other kids around the boards -- all of whom have several years on Curse -- and he just blows them out of the freakin' water -- I mean, it's not even a contest.

So I am glad he is getting the benefit of the doubt.

Stay out of trouble, Curse!!

Don't make me look like a jerk.  I won't do this twice.
