Does anyone here know what they do to a heroin addict who comes into a clinic having withdrawl that is very severe? If I could get some help it would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you be asking this question on a script writing website? ha ha...kind of strange.

I think it might be research for a script he may be writing or something. :) That's all I can think of.

I'm doing it for a script Rapture... I'm not a druggy or anything like that. I just needed to know how they would treat a heroin addict, because my script involves that.

Try http://www.heroinaddiction.com/

And when you're done, read Linus.  I have a character named after you.

I've worked in two detox units. What we would do is asses the client when they came in and find out how much they had been using. The doctor would come in later that day and also asses them. They would then be put on a reduction regime of valium and sleeping pills which they would slowly be weened off over the course of a week or so.

Once they had finished detoxing they would be sent to rehab if they were lucky, otherwise it's back out on the street and back to using more often than not.

Sometimes clients are also put on a reduction regime of buperenorphine, which is an opium (heroin) replacement drug.
