I just lost twenty posts from my number of posts. What happened?

There was a major clean out of threads.  Usually, after a clean out, the post counts are updated.

Thank you sir Don!!!

;D ;D ;D

Do you want me to delete my post here?

I think he'll leave it up because when others have the same question they'll come here and see that you started this thread.

I recently noticed this happened to me too. I never really knew what happend until now.

You might notice that if you post something and then change your mind and delete it, your post count will not change even though you have one less post in reality. Go ahead. Try it. The count will not decrease by that one post until Don does an update. Just kind of the way the board works.

So if someone goes through an old thread and cleans it up so someone digging through ancient posts reads the important stuff and not the fluff, and half the fluff belong to you, then you may lose a bunch of posts. This also happens when current threads go off topic and someone digs in there and cleans out the off topic posts. You won't notice your posts are gone until the update occurs.

Personally, it's really disturbing when your posts disappear. I mean the actual posts, not the number. I've had a couple disappear recently that I didn't think were bad, off-topic, or in any way disrespectful, yet they disappeared. Weird.

I have deleted a few posts myself, Due to no replies and just didn't want the post in the way of something more Important. I log on sometimes a some of my posts are gone LOL!! But hey at least I know why now..

Cheers for clearing that up for me George.

Hey...if you are trying to imply a little monkey business on my part, it wasn't me.

Doesn't mean that I haven't thought about deleting some Willson posts -- just for yuks....

Doesn't mean that I won't....

Note:

When someone requests that their script be removed from the site, the discussion thread that holds the script also is removed.

No, no. This was last week sometime, before you were announced, so it couldn't have been you. Delete a few just for yucks...yeah, I wouldn't put it past you.

Errr, blame me for that one, George.  I requested that 'Chronicles of Mike Shelton' be deleted and the thread had several posts from you.

Mods aren't the only ones who can get posts deleted, evidently haha :)

No, this wasn't on that thread alone. Lord knows, I can't really complain about my post count. I don't think I lost any posts whenever this update was. Most posts I don't remember, though. I only notice when I get modded if I go back to threads I've replied on and discover what I've said is gone. I'm usually wondering if I forgot to hit "Post Reply" and I don't want to repost what I said since if I did get modded, that means I said something or another I wasn't supposed to. I get in a quandry for about 30 seconds before I forget about it and move on.

You had Chronicles of Mike Shelton deleted? Wasn't that the "A-List" team one? I got a kick out of that one, what gives?

Does it have anything to do with my new signature?

If it does, I didn't really mind that your script popped up if you searched for me in the author search.  I thought it was kinda funny actually, and thought it might garner a few reads for you if I mentioned it.

I'll change my signature later once this makes sense to people.

I actually asked to have 3 of my scripts removed.  Two were from way back before I was a member plus the Chronicles.  I appreciated everyone's responses to it, but I guess it was more of a personal thing that I wanted it off for.  And Mike, I laughed out loud when I saw your signature!!  Hahahahaha.

If anyone  wants to re-read Helio's adventures in his pink panties and the A-List's struggles against Emperor Don, then just lemme know and I'll e-mail it to ya.

George I think you were the victim of somebody elses anal posts, usually when I see something out of control I tell Don. (From now on I'll lock it because I do in fact have that ability but never noticed it) Then inform Don and he can do what he feels from there.

I do notice you try to steer topics back in the right direction but they just fall apart once you stop or go offline.

If anyone was paying attention, it appears that the post count was refreshed recently, so if you have a habit of occasionally posting nonsense (like I do), you'll notice your number dropped. I went down around 10, so I guess I'm not too non-sensical.

I jumped ahead of Alan haha -- and he was a bunch more than me yesterday.

I lost close 15 or so today. I guess that means posts like this one I shouldn't really post at all.  I don't mind when my posts get deleted, but it stinks when some reviews get deleted.

In this particular case though, I know why, so it's okay.

Yeah I thought some of my posts had been deleted but I kind of pushed it aside. But I lost only 3 or 4 posts so it's not that bad.

I lost three.  I guess I have mostly constructive things to say, unlike this post haha.

Folks,

Please.  When a script is deleted from the site by the request of the author, the discussion thread, in its entirety, is also deleted.  Also, once a week, I do a full back up of the discussion board. In order to save space, I remove members who haven't posted anything in the last year as well as do a recount of posts.

For the record, my post count went down 40 over the past three weeks.  That is the number, more or less, of removed scripts from the site.

So, if your numbers drop dramatically that means that either you've posted a lot of posts like, "cool!  I'll read it" or "I will review this" OR you have posted a lot of reviews to scripts that have recently been deleted from the site at the request of the author.  So, for most of the folks in this thread, your post count droped because your reviews were deleted at the request of the author of the script you reviewed.

You said the CR-word Don!

Haha, but yeah my Resident Evil script was taken down so I think that is why my 3 posts were taken away.

Makes sense.

My posts went down, I believe, because of an argument which I was drawn into with another member of the boards. The entire thread has disappeared. It must have been because of the confrontation, because beside that, the thread itself contained a lot of useful opinions and debate about a complex topic. I tried to set things straight for the benefit of other members, but if Don decided to delete the thread, that's fine with me and I understand. This is a very peaceful site and arguments will only taint its good name, but the comments that I made on that thread had to be said. I can't make that clear enough. But anyway, I'm sure it's forgot about now.
