According to bloody disgusting.com a fourth Saw film will instantly begin prepping if the third film in the franchise is a sucess. They were also informed that if a fourth film happens, Tobin Bell will return as Jigsaw.

note:

This will be the last Saw thread allowed on this board. If they actually make a fifth film, I'll blow my goddamn brains out.

I hate how they totally burn ideas to death. Seriously, can't they create a new idea instead of keep remaking the same stuff.

SSDD

Same shit different day...

If anyone in Hollywood is reading this, here's my statement. 'Get Original'.

I know I am kind of breaking the rules Bert set out for us, since I have no information to give about the movie, but I just think that the first one was best, the second one ruined it, and the third one is probably going to do even worse. Now a fourth one?

Exactly, these guys just do things to the death. They need new flesh, writers like us. I know a great deal of us writers have the talent needed to write a better movie then the crap out there now.

Oh, and contributing to the movie.

1 was great...

2 was horrible...

3 will be okay...

4 will kill the franchise.

If it's some how related to the film being discussed in that particular thread then you can discuss it. People should just try to avoid one-line responses like “This will suck” or “Oh my God, this will kick so much ass”.

Well if people pay to see it, then these films will be made.

And that means these films are in demand.

So unless people make original horror films, then they will continue to milk the cow of the latest horror hit.

I dont care if they make 10 of these films as long as they are entertaining. I personally think Saw 3 will die an early death and there wont be a fourth, but good luck to those that made it.

They're really whipping out these movies at a quick pace. They're enjoyable flicks to watch. It's not Gone With the Wind, it's just a gorey little movie that tries to entertain you. I have no problem with them making more I guess. The series will die when people stop watching them.

C'mon, the first was brilliant and the start of something awesome. The second was great for entertainment value and was, to be honest, just as good as the first. The third I'm just hoping will be different as the the other two enough that it will be a success, leaving the forth to be made ending the franchise with a bloody brilliant ending.

They used two fingers for the Saw II promo poster, they're using three bloodied up teeth inside someones bloody mouth for the third, what will they use for the forth do you think?

Four bloody hooves left on a bathroom floor!... Now that would be pretty weird. i think that's where they'll be heading once they run outta ideas.

Yeah, I've been thinking all day about they would use. I can't think of anything on a human body except normal things like the big toe being cut off leaving the four other toes... OR four rusty nails hammered into an arm, leg, head or hand. That would be a cool one.

;D

I'm sure they'll be able to come up with plenty of gory, inventive deaths for the characters for many films to come. What remains to be seen is if they can churn out good stories at the same time. And they're gonna have to think really hard for the next one, or two, or whatever, because very soon the films will be suffering the same fate as M. Night Shyamalan's;

People going in EXPECTING a big twist ending, and getting their hopes ridiculously high and being disappointed.

OR

People spending the whole running time looking for the big twist, getting it right, complaining that the twist was obvious, and being disappointed.

Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures announced today that Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II and Saw III) is back to helm the next installment of the "Saw" franchise, the most successful horror series in history. :-/

The studio execs are simply doing what they do to pretty much every profitable franchise: they're running it into the ground. Let us all sit back and enjoy how far this series is going to fall. Because you just know they're not going to stop at 4. They might not even stop at 5.

Cheers, Chismeister.

A cool new horror-movie haunt, FEARnet, was on the set of the forthcoming “Saw IV” and got the scoop on what the film’s about :

According to the site:

Quoted Text
”Jigsaw still haunts the living in "Saw IV," forcing them to appreciate life, or face death. As a continuation of "Saw III," Jeff must find his daughter and escape the building to which they are confined before they both die. After finding another tape of Jigsaw, Jeff realizes there may be a newly added piece of the puzzle that he must decipher before it's too late.”

The site also has some on-set pics from the film up.

I don't think I've even heard of that site. Anyhow, is it usually a reliable source of info? If so, that might be an interesting story to follow through with.

A look at the first promo art for Saw IV.

Wow. Why won't it die? I liked the first one but after that... not so much. x_x

This is getting ridiculous. Both of the Saw sequels have sucked, and this will to! Why are they beatiing a dead horse?!

I liked all the saw movies but I think 3 wrapped it up nicely. 4 should not have been made

Did anyone else ever think that the writers of Saw just took the Raymond K. Hessel scene from Fight Club and spun it into a feature length movie with a lot more gore?

Think about it.  The whole "appreciate life or die" angle.

Bloody-Disgusting.com has posted what looks to be an international poster for Saw IV.

Exactly. I can't stand when some people gush about it's originality. Aside from K. Hessel, there's of course Seven it owes a ton of inspiration.

It wasn't even that exciting. but maybe that's just because everytime I hear the Jigsaw Killer speak, I smile and remember Donald Kaufman's horror/serial killer idea from Adaptation.

Quoted Text
Charlie Kaufman: The only idea more overused than serial killers is multiple personality. On top of that, you explore the notion that cop and criminal are really two aspects of the same person. See every cop movie ever made for other examples of this.
Donald Kaufman: Mom called it "psychologically taut".

Quoted Text
Donald Kaufman: Listen, I need a cool way to kill people. Don't worry, for my script.
Charlie Kaufman: I don't know that kind of stuff.
Donald Kaufman: Oh, come on, man, please? You're the genius.
Charlie Kaufman: Here you go. The killer's a literature professor. He cuts off little chunks from his victims' bodies until they die. He calls himself "the deconstructionist".

Donald Kaufman: I'm putting in a chase sequence. So the killer flees on horseback with the girl, the cop's after them on a motorcycle and it's like a battle between motors and horses, like technology vs. horse.
Charlie Kaufman: And they're still all one person, right?

That's neat poster. However, I still have my doubts about this movie.

Rumor has it that there's a two minute scene of a guy cutting up an apple.  :)

These will continue to be made as long as the generate money.  It's just the nature of the beast/business.  If this does well its opening weekend, be prepared to hear that Saw 5 has been greenlighted.

I think they should have used something that weighs FOUR pounds, you know?

Otherwise, what's the point?

I enjoyed the first three SAW films.

Until one of us writes a horror film better, or just as good as the SAW films, then they'll keep on making SAW films.

Come on, guys! I think we can do it.

If you head over to Fearnet, you can watch an extremely graphic clip from Saw IV, which features Jigsaw's autopsy.

If making a fourth Saw film is going to kill the franchise, what's not making anymore Saw movies going to do to the franchise?

I might be a sick bastardette, but I actually enjoy the SAW movies.

I bought the first one as an impulse item at the grocery store. I didn't know anything about the movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked it and I went on to buy the rest of them too. I might not see the fourth one at the theaters, but I absolutely will buy it.

I liked the clip. I want to see what the hell is going to happen next.

I love buying DVDs from grocery stores. I pride myself on being able to find hidden gems for $3.95.

I enjoyed the first Saw, as a stand alone flick, but I didn't think it had enough currency to go again, so I haven't bothered watching the sequels. But if the audience wants it they may as well keep churning them out.

From imdb.com,

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are writing the story and screenplay. These are the same guys from project greenlight who created Feast. This fourth installment is not becoming part of my collection.
