Well, I may have taken a job that might be a little TOO much for me, but I am so eager to move ahead in the industry I took the position without really knowing what it detailed, and um, ya, it's a huge responsibility.

These are what my duties are.


     1.  Requesting Scripts
Use the online search engines to request scripts (based on Roger’s criteria – see below)
Reply to favourable queries via our email accounts, using the “Script Request Template” (see below)
Check other sources, such as Praxis and Inktip Mag
Request scripts forwarded by Roger Evan Larry
Email Release Forms to the writers in question (see below)

     2. Book Search
Read the weekly Globe and Mail book review to determine if any of the new releases are possible movie candidates
Search other top ten lists and book review sites, peruse the shelves at your local bookstore or library
When a good book is found (based on its synopsis), contact the publisher and determine if the “book rights” are currently up for option
If book rights are currently free and up for option, loan book out from the library and assign it to a reader for a book report
Follow-up on book report as you would for script reports (usually only one book report is necessary for Roger)

     3. Organizing the Readers
Assign requested scripts/books to individual readers
Receive the reader reports and organize any additional reads that might be necessary (Script – 2, Book – 1)
Post requests for readers on job-forum websites when new readers are needed (Roger likes to have 3 readers at a time)
Interview new reader candidates and train new readers on the details of script reporting
Maintain positive relationships and constant communication with the readers

     4. Script Follow-up
Present favourable scripts to Roger at Development Meetings
Contact the writers in question regarding further course of action as directed by Roger

     5. Development Meetings
Weekly, organize a suitabe time for Development Meetings between you and Roger
Once a month, inform readers of meeting time and location and encourage attendance (if Roger wishes)
Update Roger on all new scripts that have passed the initial “reading” stage of the process
Update Roger on any other Development issues

     6. Office Duties
On the days that you come into the office, do the following:
Read through any new copies of Inktip magazine
File away any newly faxed-in Release Forms (in the filing cabinet under Release Forms)
Gather any newly received hardcopy scripts or other Development mail (implement into the reading process)
          
     7. Inktip.com and InktipPro.com
Daily, check InktipPro.com website for new submissions and updates:
          Log In:     not gonna post that
          Passwd:     guess
Contact Chris Cookson at Inktip regarding any questions or to set up a query (if Roger requests it)
Visit Inktip.com to do general genre searches, etc:
          Log In:     nope
          Passwd:     NEVER
     8. Hotmail Account
Once in a while check Roger’s Hotmail account because a lot of queries are sent to it:
          Log In:     secret
          Passwd:     another secret



Notes:

Roger’s Script Criteria:
Strong, character-driven, genre pieces
Good character arc
No passive protagonists

I hope to God I can pull this off, this looks like a lot of work and will keep me busy for a long time.

It may seem like a lot now, but once you get into a routine, it'll be like second nature.  Trust me, it's like that with any job.

Congrats on the job. I'm looking one for myself but its very difficult. It seems alot but as Mike said, it'll be second nature to you. You'll do fine.

I have already seen a few scripts from here on inkpit which is pretty cool.  Thats a good place to go.

Man though, I ain't  ever gonna have any free time, but I guess that's what you gotta do to get ahead.

A thing I did when I wrote for my High School newpaper, I had a shit load of work, find somone who has way more work than you and than it will seem as if your work is nothing. I edited and did sports but I looked at someone reporters and thought they had way more work, I can do this. I did. But, I quit. Not much of a story but, I guess it might help.
