I'll bite. I don't think this has been covered elsewhere, but even if it has, maybe something has changed.

1. How old are you? 31
2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start? I started at 18 by writing music, though I directed some narrative home videos at 16 without a script.
3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do? It can go either way. But either way, you have to be able to just "know" when something works and when it doesn't. You have to be able to detach.
4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills... U.S. Cellular in their call center talking to angry customers.
5. Have you had any scripts produced? If so, how many? 3: A play in 00 in Tulsa, a musical in 01 in Stockholm, Sweden, and a movie in 05 in Australia. Lots of other rumors of productions, but nothing materialized as of yet.
6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft? I would like to direct as well as write. Not interested in acting, and would produce only if I had to.
7. What writer(s) inspires you to write? The good ones.
8. What music inspires you to write? Hard to say. I don't write to music since I write at work.
9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Just one. The Simpsons
10. What is your all time favorite movie? Just one. Hard choice. Star Wars - if you consider all 6 films to be one narrative storyline, it's very clever. More originality in this than most writers have in a lifetime.

1. How old are you?

22

2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start?

Since I was 17 -- not scripts. Journals, poems, etc.

3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do?

Some people, I'm sure, have a natural talent for it -- others, like myself, learn (or try to learn).

4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills...

The one that pays the bills? My g/f's student loans! J/k -- that and my employment at an antique store .

5. Have you had any scripts produced?

No.

6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft?

I've no interest in anything other than writing. I'm an introvert.

7. What writer(s) inspires you to write?

Writers? mostly poets -- Everyone from Bukowski to Plath to Agoos. It's a wide range.

To be able to articulate in so few words what the rest of us take volumes to say is, I think, extraordinary. Their work is a felt expreience. I'd like to be able to evoke similar experiences in others. I'm not there yet.

Also, I take inspiration from bohemian artists -- Warhol, Dash Snow -- mostly the life-style. I love freedom!

8. What music inspires you to write?

My current script, the one I'm working on, was influenced by The Doors' "The End." I like the existential angle. It has a kinda "it's all meaningless. What's it matter if we die" feel. Even so, if I could include a soundtrack, it would be comprised of Moldy Peaches songs.

9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Just one.

I'm not sure. I don't really like tv. Right now I enjoy Moral Orel, House, and Earl.

10. What is your all time favorite movie? Just one.

Life is Beautiful.

You haven't answered this yourself DDP.  Don't you think you should?

1. How old are you? I am old enough to not want to answer the question.
2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start? I started writing poems when I was a teen. I dabbled with script writing in college. I didn't start writing screenplays until decades later.
3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do? It?s a combination of both.
4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills...Software developer. I think writing a screenplay is similar to writing a software application.
5. Have you had any scripts produced? If so, how many? If self-produced counts then 1, Aileen, it?s about an alien internet predator.  I'm pretty sure I will self-produce Modern Ethics as well-I wrote it for that purpose.
6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft? I like to direct and I have a bit of experience doing it (from a previous career) but it is too stressful. I prefer the writing.
7. What writer(s) inspires you to write? Ideas inspire me to write.
8. What music inspires you to write? The music of conversation.
9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Just one. Changes every half-hour.
10. What is your all time favorite movie? Just one. Changes every second.

1. How old are you?

20 years young... or old whatever takes your fancy.

Quoted from DDP
2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start?

I started writing songs (lyrics) around 14 or 15, started writing poetry around 16, and started writing screenplays at about 17 and a half.

Quoted from DDP
3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do?

Both, it's 50/50. If you have a good story, you could screw up in the telling of it. Yet, if you're a good writer but have nothing interesting to tell, it'll be boring.

6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft?

Quoted from DDP

Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith mostly.

Quoted from DDP

Quoted from DDP
9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Just one.

Hard to say. maybe South Park or That 70's Show. Home Improvement and The Simpsons were great in their day too. Chappelle's Show is by far probably the funniest show ever though.

2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start?
My dad used to alwayas tell me and my siblings stories before putting us to bed at night.  In second grade I wrote one of these down, a story about my hampsters, and sent it into a group that occasionaly came to our school called "Childs Play" (which, looking back, is creepy).  Anyway, they wouyld pick three stories sent in from the school and act them out.  They chose mine (or my dads if you want to look at it that way--he does), and I thought it was really cool.  After that I kept writing little stories and i neight grade they turned from stories into scripts.

2. How long have you been writing? Or what age did you start?  About 2 years, so not long really.

3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something people learn to do?  I think you can learn the basics like format but you need inspiration and imagination.

4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills... The Royal Mail, so that would be a Postman.

5. Have you had any scripte produced? If so, how many?  None, but people have shown an interest in 'The Big Stiff' and seen as though it is only a first draft I was quite surprised.

Anybody can get "good" with practice, but to move beyond that, I think you need natural, inborn talent.  Same with music, I suspect.

6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft?

Just writing.

8. What music inspires you to write?

Nothing.  I need total silence.  The dead of night is always best.

9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Just one.

"The Nightstalker" at the time -- but when I watch it now, it just looks kinda' dumb haha.

10. What is your all time favorite movie? Just one.

1. How old are you?

25

2. How long have you been writing? Or what age did you start?

Hardly wrote a thing until I was around 19 and took a few screenwriting classes at uni. I've always been an avid reader though.

3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something people learn to do?

Both.

4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills...

Writer/Game Designer

5. Have you had any scripts produced? If so, how many?

4 shorts so far, 1 short as script supervisor. One video game to be released later this year and hopefully another video game credit by 2008/9

6. Are you only interesting in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft?

I've done some video editing at work and I love it. If I fail as a writer, I'll probably try my hand at editing. I'm also really into game design. It's a great medium for creativity Maybe sometime in the future I'd like to produce something, but I doubt I'd ever want to direct.

7. What writer(s) inspire you to write?

Too many to list. The first book that really inspired me to write was Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, but I wouldn't say I'm necessarily influenced by that style of writing. I draw influences from everywhere.

8. What music inspires you to write?

I listen to all kinds of music when I'm not writing, but I tend to write in silence. I let my imagination compose the soundtrack to my movie as I write it.

9. What's your all time favorite TV show? Just one.

Blackadder

10. What's your all time favorite movie? Just one.

ahhh... different answer every day of the week. Today... The Shining

1. How old are you?

I'll take the 5th.

2. How long have you been writing? Or what age did you start?

7 years, but I'm a slow writer, so I haven't written a hell of a lot in that time.

3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something people learn to do?

You need an active imagination and a strong work ethic.

4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills...

I work in a needle exchange, providing clean injecting equipment and education to injecting drug users.

5. Have you had any scripts produced? If so, how many?

None.

6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft?

I'm just interested in writing because that's all my budget will allow. I made two films at film school in 2000. My claim to fame is that the star of my major short film landed a regular role in a TV cop show. He is also in the film Ghost Rider.

7. What writer(s) inspire you to write?

Arron Sorkin, Alan Ball.

8. What music inspires you to write?

Nothing a write in silence, but I'm really digging post rock stuff at the moment

9. What's your all time favorite TV show? Just one.

Six Feet Under.

10. What's your all time favorite movie? Just one.

Fight Club. I named my first son Tyler  because of it.

Well, what the heck....

1. How old are you?

15

2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start?

Started off at 10 or eleven with poems and other things.

3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do?

I think it's a natural talent when it comes to poems, lyrics, etc, but not so much with essays and reports. You just have to have a good vocabulary for that. Also, like someone else already said, you have to have some experience at life itself in order to be a good writer.

4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills...

None. I don't have a job yet.

5. Have you had any scripts produced? If so, how many?

Nope.

6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft?

If music counts, then I'm planning on learning. I hope it's not too late 'cause I've always been fascinated with all music, from Death Metal to film score. I'm also interested in editing, to a lesser extent.

7. What writer(s) inspires you to write?

Edgar Allan Poe and Pablo Neruda mainly, although there are too many to list.

8. What music inspires you to write?

None, really. My own feelings and experiences inspire me to write. Music just relaxes me for it, whether it is heavy or soft.

9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Just one.

Oh, damn. I dunno!! :S

10. What is your all time favorite movie? Just one.

These questions are cruel! It's impossible to pick only one movie :(

1. I'm as old as the the laser beam

2. I write since I'm 18 (well, almost thirty years ago…)

3.I think both. But you have to improve day after day, script after script. My motto is "Go to bed more clever than when you woke up"

4. I work for the French administration. I have to pay my bills, my cigarettes and my little boy's toys…

5. One of my first scripts runs the Cannes Festival back in 1988. Since I joined SS in last June, I have 6 shorts in preproduction, but nothing done yet.

6. I'd love to direct but don't have technical knowledges yet. Anyway, when I write, I "see" the whole movie in my head, shot after shot.

7.Joseph Mankiewicz, Lawrence Kasdan, Wim Wenders, François Truffaut

8. Jazz, Country Music, Classical (Satie, Debussy or Ravel)

9. Must be "Mad About You"

10. Just one? "Citizen Kane" (everything you have to learn is in it)

I love that show!!

Life without Blackadder is like a broken pencil...

(in Melchett's private quarters. The general puts on an impressive red jacket. Darling is with him.)

Melchett: (after a few sounds of self-satisfaction) How do I look, Darling?

Darling: Girl-bait, sir. Pure bloody girl-bait.

Melchett: Moustache? Bushy enough?

Darling: Like a privet hedge, sir.

Melchett: Good, because I want to catch a particularly beautiful creature in this bush tonight.

Darling: You'll have her coming out of your moustache for a week, sir.

Melchett: God, it's a spankingly beautiful world and tonight's my night. I know what I'll say to her. 'Darling...'

Darling: (mistaken that the general's addressing him) Yes sir?

Melchett: What?

Darling: Um, I don't know, sir.

Melchett: Well don't butt in! (exhales) 'I want to make you happy, darling'.

Darling: Well, that's very kind of you sir.

Melchett: Will you kindly stop interrupting? If you don't listen, how can you tell me what you think? (continues) 'I want to make you happy, darling. I want to build a nest for your ten tiny toes. I want to cover every inch of your gorgeous body in pepper and sneeze all over you.'

Darling: I really think I must protest!

Melchett: What is the matter with you, Darling?

Darling: Well, it's all so sudden, I mean the nest bit's fine, but the pepper business is definitely out!

Melchett: How dare you tell me how I may or may not treat my beloved Georgina?

Darling: Georgina?

Melchett: Yes, I'm working on what to say to her this evening.

Darling: Oh yes. Of course. Thank God.

Melchett: Alright?

Darling: Yes, I'm listening, sir.

Melchett: Honestly Darling, you really are the most graceless, dim-witted pumpkin I ever met.

Darling: I don't think you should say that to her.

(Melchett groans)

Oh my Pia, and Martin

I too own all the Blackadders and until recently own every single Red Dwarf episode on video.  I'm thinking of getting them again on dvd but it will cost a small fortune.

In my opinion though Red Dwarf went down hill when one of the writers left,I think it was Rob Grant.  The show turned more into one liners than the funny stories that had gone before.

As for Blackadder, simply one of the best shows ever, especially the forth series.  The final shot of the final episode still moves me.

What?!? Is that true? I'm sure I've seen more than twelve episodes of Fawlty Towers before.  :o

Nope. They only ever made two series, each one had six episodes.

It's a shame because it is the funniest British comedy I've ever seen.

Cheers, Chismeister.

1. How old are you?

24

2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start?

I started writing when I was six, I started script writing when I was 22.

3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do?

There has to be something rough to work with but much of writing is learned.  The more you have in the rough catagory when starting, the less you have to polish.

4. What is your current profession? You know, the one that pays the bills...

Stay-at-home-mom.  And let me tell you, it's a busy job.

5. Have you had any scripts produced? If so, how many?

None yet but three are on the slate this year so I'm hoping for the best.

6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft?

I would like to know how it all works but at the end of the day, I'm just a writer.

7. What writer(s) inspires you to write?

All of them.  I love books.

8. What music inspires you to write?

Mainly intrumental and sound tracks.  No words to get in the way of my thoughts.

9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Just one.

At this point in my life, CSI, but when I was younger Matlock and Murder She Wrote had a pretty good fight with each other over that spot.

10. What is your all time favorite movie? Just one.

I would have to say Ever After which is really unusual because I don't like girl oriented movies, but that one was amazing.

I guess I'll go along with the crowd. : )

1. How old are you? 15

2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start? I started writing pretend play by plays for baseball at around age 9, at the age of 10 I started to actually begin writing screenplays.

3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do? I say natural talent, the first script I wrote on notebook paper was 67 pages, which is decent for a 10 year old in my book.

4. What is your current profession? I'm a student in high school.

5. Have you had any scripts produced? If so, how many? None, I don't think screenplay agencies, or just individual companies want to film some of the scripts I've written. Mainly, because of age.

6. Are you only interested in writing or also producing, directing, or something else related to this craft? I would do anything to call my work my own, including writing, directing, and producing. I also don't want some guy picking the soundtrack. : )

7. What writer(s) inspires you to write? Ummm... Stephen King probably, just because of the fact that he is horror genius. Even though I utterly hate writing horror screenplays.

8. What music inspires you to write? All sorts of things, usually I listen to music that fits my script that I'm writing.

9. What is your all time favorite tv show? Family Guy.

10. What is your all time favorite movie? There's too many, but the Departed is certainly up there along with the Warriors and Pulp Fiction.

1. How old are you?...30
2. How long have you been writing? or what age did you start?...I started at about 10 give or take a few years.
3. In your experience, is good writing a natural talent or something that people learn to do?...Both, I feel it takes both. You know the old adage, to write what you know?
