SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Hey there

I'm new to signing up but not actually new to this site.  I've been coming here for probably three years and just never signed up in the forum.  Anyway, I've been writing screenplays for five years and have written two a year.  I have also written a few shorts.

That doesn't make me an expert or some great writer of Screenplays just sharing info.  I always have room to improve, if I didn't I would be working for Hollywood or something.

Here is something that may shock you.  Besides my short screenplays, I have never re-written my full length screenplays.  This is something I plan on doing the rest of this year and on into next year is re-writing the ones I have.  The reason?  Well, as soon as I finished one I went into plotting and outlining my next one.  Then writing the screenplay.  I just wanted to write at least ten and that was my goal.  So I wrote two a year.

I plan on getting into reviews with you guys and learning.  And soon submit my short screenplays.

But something I rarely see discussed anywhere is about re-writing and its something I would like to become good at and discuss with everyone here.  Mainly, I have recently read most of my work and there are good, bad and ugly things in them.

Nice meet you all and thanks for having me.

Welcome aboard, SoulFly. I can't imagine why somebody, who is obviously so interested in writing, would come here for three years before joining the forum.

Enjoy.  :)

Are you a fan of the band SoulFly?

Yes, Chris I am a huge fan of SoulFly.  Have seen them live many times.  Very unique sound.

And I know.  I've came and always read scripts, unproduced and so on.  Just never joined the forum kind of out of fear, I think.  Some forums are not friendly but this place seems like family.

I think rewriting is a forgotten part of the writing process.

So many times people post a script and after receiving mixed thoughts they say "This is just  quick draft. I plan to rewrite." and when they say that they lose 80% of those readers because who wants to read the same thing 80 times if the writer cannot even take the time to put out a half decent effort the first time?

Welcome and if you want to discuss re-writing "Screenwriting Class" is the correct place for such a thing.
