Seeing as the Music board has been getting a little more attention lately, I figured I'd contribute. As the title would suggest, what are some of your favorite guitar solos? Here are a couple of mine...

I've always liked Morello's solo on Audioslave's "Like A Stone". Haven't quite heard anything like it.

The outro, the end solo of "Paradise City" by Slash of Guns N' Roses. It Rocks! Can't believe his hand doesn't just fall off playin' it -- so many notes.

Speaking of solos...some of you may know this one, but I'm crazy about this Korean kid. Man, is he awesome! Mind you, it's in one take.

Pete Townshend's solo on See Me Feel Me when performed live. Some great examples are Live At The Isle of Wright, Woodstock and Kampuchea in 79' although that last one, which is his best is impossible for me to currently find. But that's my favorite all time song and I feel like the solo just lifts it to new heights. But yeah, it's the only song I'd consider pefect and while Pete is mainly a rhythm guitarist, real Who fans know that he can rips up a million notes when he wants to.

I'm in total awe of this kid. Check out his Vivaldi - Summer cover as well. He makes classical music sound like it was made for electric guitars.

Here's one for you metalheads out there (I know there're some). The solo in the title track of Deicide's The Stench of Redeption is amazing. It lasts about half the song, which is around four minutes long. I've been listening to that a lot today.

Ah yes Tom Morello. I've never been let down by him. every one impresses me. But I think my favorite may be Dream Theater's, "Under a Glass Moon"

I pretty much agree what everybody said about Tom Morello. Anything by him, especially:
'Like a Stone' - Audioslave
'Doesn't Remind Me' - Audioslave
'Sleep Now In the Fire' - Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave
'Bulls on Parade' - Rage and Audioslave
'Down Rodeo' - Rage Against the Machine
I also like:
'Bat Country' - Avenged Sevenfold
'The Everlasting Gaze' - Smashing Pumpkins
'Stand Inside Your Love' - Smashing Pumpkins
'One' - Even though Metallica licks goat nuts anymore
and LOL... 'Tribute' - Tenacious D
and pretty much anything from Stevie Ray Vaughn

I wasn't even thinking of Bat Country. He tore that up. However the solos on their new record weren't as appealing to me.

I very rarely play air guitar, I am getting so old and fat I probably look like a complete fool when I do - always a bad idea in the middle of a supermarket. But when I do it is usually when I am listening to Pink Floyd's The Wall.
Death Monkey already mentioned 'Comfortably Numb', But I would add 'Mother', 'Nobody Home', 'Young Lust' and the last few minutes of 'Another brick in the wall (part 2)' is just stunning. A great album for guitar solo's.
Also I really like the solo in Oasis' 'Live Forever' is a bit of a classic.

I finally found this one on youtube. Yngwie Malmsteen with 80s metal outfit Steeler. It's the intro to the song Hot on Your Heels. It starts of as an acoustic solo then morphs into an electric one. The lead breaks in the song are good too.

If you've not listened to DragonForce, that's some crazy solo action on pretty much any song. But therein lies the curse; a lot of their music sounds the same. My problem with picking something specific is that I tend to listen to music in large chunks and I have trouble picking out songs. I know I really love the guitar work of Pain of Salvation and Dream Theater especially. I listen to a lot of stuff, but when it comes to guitar, those two groups top my list. I never get tired of them.
Just glanced ove the board again, and how could I forget Cliffs of Dover. Damn, tht's a good one.

Another one of my favorite guitar solos is our National Anthem performed by the late, great Jimi Hendrix. :-)

Young and thin people look like complete fools when they do, too.
'Halfway to Heaven' by Harry Chapin end with an incredible solo. Harry rarely used electric guitars in his day (I think), but he nailed it here.
