SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Post Your Movie Posters Here
Posted by: bert, September 23rd, 2007, 10:32am
EDIT:  Some new ground rules for what looks like it may morph into a popular thread:

1:  Please post a link to the script your poster is promoting.
2:  Please do not put up posters for scripts that are not available here at Simply Scripts.
3:  Posters for Works in Progress are OK as long as they are not, like, months in advance.
4:  Try to keep chatter to a minimum.  Let's try to keep most of the posts actual posters.  If you really dig one, send the artist a PM.
5:  No "fantasy casts", please.  People will make fun of you, and then I'll have to clean up the thread.
6:  Drop me a PM if you would like your poster to appear on the thread for your script, on the original post, beneath the logline.
7:  One poster per script, please.  Pick one and go with it.
7.5:  More rules may come later.

I know that some folks around here have created Movie Posters for their scripts -- they are fun and interesting and a cheap plug all rolled into one.

I saw one recently that convinced me maybe these little works of art need a home of their own.

Phil (Janet, actually, but let's not split hairs ) has worked up a real humdinger for "Druid", and I thought it might inspire some other people around here to create one for their own scripts.

I love looking at these, personally.  I'm gonna toss up one of my own, too, but it isn't nearly as nice as this one.

If you make a poster for your script, put it here so folks can see it.  Or if you have already made one that nobody has seen yet, toss it up.

Here is one I did with Microsoft Paint -- just to put it out there that you do not necessarily need expensive software to do this.

But, yeah -- Phil's is better.  I got Photoshop recently, but haven't had time to play around with it much.

Anybody else out there have one of these for their script?

Killer poster for Druid! Looks great!

Great idea for a thread, Bert!!

This is an incomplete image, taken from my website where my Goonies Never Say Die script is posted. I had originally wanted to add some of the characters onto the train hanging onto dear life, but I couldn't accomplish that on my own, sadly. But, there's enough here to imply what my script entails... anyone whose ever been to Old Sacramento will recognise this image, as it's been borrowed from there. I love old trains and the railway museum there.

And one more of mine, again made with low-tech software.

I am going to have to learn that Photoshop software.  I am really impressed with some of the other entries on here.  "Double Carnage" is just outstanding, isn't it?

Since you started this thread, I thought I'd include the posters for:

Dog Run (aka: Linus)

The link for the The Burnout poster is down now.  I should have that up shortly.

Finally, the poster, and other photos, for
Dreams in Dust and Marble (now known as Unreality) can be found here.

You may have to be a myspace member to look at it.

Kinda breaking the rules here since this script is no longer available on SS, but I think enough people are familiar with it to warrant the poster.

Anyway, this is a little mockup that was done awhile back for "My Hero", formerly "The Hero of Her Heart".

Hopefully it'll be up this week or the next. It's only right the poster is an illustration. It started off as an idea for a comic years ago.

Here's something I made a while back for fun, but it also compares to my script Final Destination 4:

The text is a bit small because I don't have the original copy, but at the top it says: "No matter where you are...Death is always around you." And at the bottom it says "Don't Look Down 2009"

I popped Sniper's poster for "Second Draft" into his script today -- on Don's original #0 post for the thread -- and since people are going through the trouble to make these -- and I really quite like them -- I will do that for anybody if they ask.

Drop me a PM -- and be sure to include a link to the poster -- and I will drop it in whenever I get around to it.

I see am not the only one with the same idea.

Stuck for inspiration on my Scarefest script I decided to make the poster to see if it would get any creative thinking going. Reminds me of Ed Wood, "Is there a script?"...... "F**k no, but there's a poster!".

Anyway, here is my poster for my Scarefest entry - Blood Drive.

Thanks all, and yes the poster/film is legit.  It will be playing at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner in the next couple weeks in the hope that it will get picked up, either for a collective dvd or to turn into a feature.

The IMDb listing is also legit, but that project is still in the somewhat early stages.  (Please refrain from posting on the message board for it at this time.)

Sorry for not telling you guys sooner.  I guess I just like to keep things under wraps for the most part.

SO.  I also like graphic making, if anyone needs anything then hit me up and I shall let you guys know if I can make your script something/if I have time. :)

Anyways, the above poster is a teaser for an independent I am writing, it's another drama feature with a much grittier story to it, although the poster may betray that statement itself.

The "Paramount" logo is obviously just there to add to the effect of making it "real." :)

I could make fake posters for my screenplays all day, but I also pretend I'm on fake interviews about them when I'm in the shower too, so I'm just weird. Here's the poster for my newly revised screenplay Fried!

Nice work guys, both Phil and James.

Here's a few things I made.

The BOTTOM is for my feature I'm going to be rewriting soon (first 50 pages are available in WIP) --  I do not dream-cast things, but I needed stuff for the credits and to fill up white-space on the poster.  Hopefully nobody tells me off for it.

The TOP isn't really a poster, more a logo for a short I finished yesterday and will be submitting when submissions reopen.

A feature length film I wrote called "The Suicide Theory" that was posted on this site four years ago. It's nearing the end of post production. Shot in Gold Coast, Australia, directed by Dru Brown (Sleeper - the horror film) and starring Steve Mouzakis (Where the Wild Things Are & I, Frankenstein).

LOGLINE: A suicidal man hires a professional killer to euthanize him, but for some reason, miraculously survives each attempt on his life.

Here's a 30 second first look sneak peak... the official teaser trailer will be up within the next week or so.

A short of mine, "When It Was Bliss" was discovered on her and begins filming on August 3rd for a 2 day shoot.  I had some spare time and whipped this together.  I was going for blissful independent indie vibe.

Just to clarify, I don't use any downloaded software, all my graphics are made using online web-based photo editing sites.

Don,

Thanks for your help with the URL!

So this is my movie poster. I consider myself quite lucky because the director of this lives on Long Island and is shooting it here over the weekend. That mean I will be on set with the actors and crew, watching the process, watching them breathe life into my script! I also had the pleasure of attending a table read in NYC last week.

I know a lot of writers get their stuff made but don't get the opportunity to watch the process first hand. It's been fun and educational so far! Will share some stills when they come in, as well as the finished product.

Thanks SS!

I think that last poster is almost pro. No, not like a prostitute. Especially not like the ones round here, Fussy feckers,

Anyway, I mean if the font at the top was slightly larger it would be better. I'm gonna stop typing now as I feel another poorly formed joke coming on. Steady....
