Hey everyone.  Awhile back I posted a script in the Shorts section titled "Lights, Camera, Action?"  The original link is below:

Awhile later I filmed it as my thesis.  I posted the teaser online.  I didn't want to post it online for several reasons; one being that it would take awhile to compress it.

However, I finally put it up, and I thought I'd throw it up here because a couple people asked me to.  Also, it's cool to see the script transform into a film.  Located below is the link to it.  Enjoy!

Good job on this; hope you got an A...Liked the intro banter about choosing a major...The back stare of the uncle and other relative was great...I can relate to getting stuck in all those awful classes during late registration...The scene of him actually daring to raise his hand in women's studies was hysterical...NIce acting, too...Did you get to do the whole script or just a portion? Gonna check out the script and see what happens next.

Looked very polished and professional to me.

I watched part 1 last night, and I'm enjoying it so far.  Didn't get to watch the rest because it was so late, but I hope to check the rest of it out when I get home from work.

Hey, really enjoyable.  Nice tone, nice pace, good acting by the lead, and shots that look about as nice as possible using the DVX-100A.  And, for the most part, actually funny, which is of course the part people often miss when making comedy.

Major props to the guy on score (I've forgotten his name).  Superb job.

I liked how you managed to incorporate Star Wars without letting it take over the story, because god knows it would be easy enough to let it ruin everything.  I probably would have had twice as many auditions and resultantly a weaker film.

All in all I thought you exhibited great restraint, which is important to me for comedy.  Nice simple shots, relatively subtle jokes, and nice realistic acting.  Good job!

Edit:  Oh and props as well to your producer!  There were no "low budget" moments where something didn't look right...not enough extras, cheesy props, etc.  I thought the production was pulled off tremendously.

The reason for that is because I'm not really a huge fan of Star Wars.  I co-wrote this with my friend who happens to be a HUGE Star Wars fan.  He wanted to litter the script with jokes, but I didn't want to alienate anyone who a.) hasn't seen SW or b.) dislikes it.  I didn't really want it to be a movie ABOUT Star Wars.

My professor was REALLY supportive throughout and really liked the final project.  I actually had several professors who were really supportive to me throughout the making of this.  As for the reception, it was shown to about 200 people at our Thesis Showcase, and it received probably the best response I've ever had.  That night really spoiled me.

Yeah, she did a great job.  As for the props, though, a lot of that had to do with having a crew of Star Wars nerds.

This is splendid, Matt.  I really liked it.

I had a few free minutes and figured I would watch a little -- just to see how it looked -- but then found that I had to continue watching the whole thing.

You drew me into the story -- just like you were supposed to -- and I had to find out what happened to these characters.

This looked great all the way through.  My favorite part was when they were approaching Kenny's hidaway in the scifi club.  That looked great and totally stupid all at the same time.  Perfect.

Ha, this was great.  I love it when I get to see a short that doesn't try too hard for a laugh or take itself too seriously.  I think everyone's had their fair share of B&W short films about homeless people struggling or the Holocaust.  This is a breath of fresh air.

I especially like the whole audition scene.  It's always great to watch people horribly act out Star Wars.  And Jar Jar Binks never gets a break, does he?

Everything was top notch.  Good job.

I'm impressed.

This was really well shot, scored and directed. The acting varied in quality but the lead had the chops.

The funniest line for me was the "Next!" from Kenny after he specifically has been told to cast Linda.

I also loved how you didn't opt for the clichéd romantic comedy ending.

I thought you did a fantastic job with your film.  Your direction was never distracting and the soundtrack was great.  You should be very proud of this production.
