Hey guys (and gals)

If any of you are the parent or older sibling to a boy in grades 1-6 you would be doing me such a favor.

I'm knee deep in finals and maybe one of you could help me. It would take about ten minutes tops.

I'm taking a course in child and adolscent psychology and am working on my cross sectional paper. For it I needed a male and a female from the grade 1-6, to 7-12 and conduct a very, very small exercise. I have all except the boy in any grade 1-6. If some one does and could conduct this for me I would be so grateful. Here's the exercise:

Get a small object of a solid color (poker chip or pen cap, no coins) and keep it hidden in your hand. Inform the child you are going to tell them statements and you need for them to tell you if the statement is true, false, or if they are not sure.

Statement 1: EITHER the chip in my hand is red, or it is not red. (get them to answer true, false, or unsure)
Statement 2: The chip in my hand is red AND not red. (again see if they think it's true false or unsure)
Record their answer (true, false, unsure) but do not give them any more clarification.

Now, let them see the object and read them the same 2 statements, getting their answer after each one.

Next is two simple questions/statements.
1. Tell me about yourself.
2. Who is cool and why?

Then just write down verbatim what they say. You may ask them to clarify, for instance: if they say they like school, you may ask them what they like about it. Just no overly leading questions.

That's it. You can PM me the results and I will be so grateful. Time is of the essense since my paper is due Thursday night. I wasn't slacking. I spend a lot of time at the library and at best parents think I'm a telemarketer when I ask them if their child can participate, the other half look at me like I'm trying to steal their kid. Anyway, if any of you guys could help, thank you so much.

That is exact quote from him.  I don't think he understood the first statement.  He understood the second statement adding, "it can't be both at the sametime"  as to the "cool" question, he thinks he is the coolest person around.
