Hey Guys,

I'm starting my own horror series titled Scarefest. Think 'Tales from the Crypt' or 'Masters of Horror', where every episode/script is a different story by a different writer. I was hoping that I could get all of the horror writers here on S.S. to do an episode.

Each script should be about 10-15 pages. No real rules out side of that other than it must have a strong horror element.

If anyone is interested in writing an episode, please submit you script to me at golemcreep@yahoo.com

If you are interested please let me know here so that I can list you as involved.

NOTE:Just because you submit your script to me doesn't mean it'll be an episode in Scarefest. I won't take just anything... So please, don't send me something you wrote in one sitting. We have plenty of time.

Here's a list of who is involved.

Zack Akers - The Drifter
Sniper- Premonitions
Zombie Sean- New Message
Mr. Ripley- My Valentine
ADerr
Blakkwolfe- Sanctus Sécrétus
Murphy
alffy

Those who are involved, please talk about it here than through pms/emails... I hate pms and emails...

If you have a nasty little idea rumbling around in your head, turn it into a 10-15 script and get it to me!

So Zack,

How long do we have to come up with a script?

I mean I have a couple ideas, but nothing solid yet.

No rush Cindy. I'd say at least a month... maybe more. Take your time.
Posted by: CindyLKeller, January 30th, 2008, 9:48am; Reply: 3
A month would be really good since I do work a full time job, but I'm going to start jotting down ideas, and I'll get the script to you when it's done.
Posted by: Zack, January 30th, 2008, 9:51am; Reply: 4
It'll be no sooner than a month, I promise.

~Zack~

EDIT: I broke my promise... forgive me.

Good note, Zack.  This is VERY VERY important.  You should continue to stress this point forever.

Do NOT burn through your script.  Think it out...wait a while before submitting it and subsequent drafts almost immediately after finishing them.

WAIT...WAIT...WAIT.

***On a side note, I'm developing Laughfest, and I'm hoping to work with other comedic writers to produce some really innovative stuff.  Think "Man Getting Hit in Groin with Football"***

I'm not one of the resident horror guys but it is a genre that I always love to take a shot at.  So, mind if I take a shot at it?

...Shelton, I'd love to take a shot at that Laughfest also.

Not at all Hoody. Anyone is welcome! I'll add your name to the list...

If you have any questions what-so-ever, feel free ask. That also goes for suggestions, don't hesitate to tell me your ideas!

Most definetly Gabe. Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate.

May I enquiry the date of these entries? Or the date the series will commence?

Gabe
Posted by: Zack, January 30th, 2008, 12:19pm; Reply: 11
No set date,... yet. You have at least a month to write the script and submit it to my email. Good luck.

Also, quick note(to everyone, not just Gabe)... Obviously you are allowed to call your script what ever you please, however "Scarefest Presents" must be before the title.

Example:       SCAREFEST PRESENTS:
                           The Mad Man

Any questions?

Are you planning on filming these Zack, or are you just playing middleman?

Also... for those involved, please give me the working titles to you scripts so that I can put them next to your names on the list.

Mike, no I don't plan on filming these. This is just for fun.

Bert... sounds good to me, but something tells me it won't be approved...

Even if it wasn't, he could just submit it on it's own.  Sure, he wouldn't have the distinction of being a part of the Scarefest craze, but people will read it nonetheless.  Maybe even more since it's not lumped into a series.

"Depends" on the story though, right?

I have a couple of ideas.

Mind over bladder
Leak not, want not

...maybe not

Zack, how are you going to be sending in the scripts? Are you going to be sending them in all at once? Or each one separately as they finish? I think you should send them all in at once due to the fact that sending them in separately as each one is finished would cause Don to work a lot more than he should.

I think then it would not be a series but more a really long feature. Wouldn't it? But this is a good point that should be cleared up?

Gabe

I agree. That would be unfair to Don. Myabe we'll release a few scripts every month... I know that I don't want to put 2 or more episode into one script. Every episode will be its own script.

I already have a story lined up and I'll probably start on it after the OWC.  I really want to write it as if it were an actual episode of a TV show, so it might be 25-35 pages long.  Is that okay?
Posted by: Zack, January 30th, 2008, 8:37pm; Reply: 24
Sorry Hoody, but 10-15 is what I've decided on. There will be no exceptions.

The whole approval thing just seems weird to me.
Posted by: Hoody, January 30th, 2008, 8:43pm; Reply: 26
Hmm...this story can't be told in 15 pages, so I guess I'll save it for another day.

Back to the drawing board.

I agree about the approval thing. It doesn't seem like it'll work.

On another note... I've decided that the 1rst season of Scarefest will only be 8 episodes. A writer can only write one episode per season, which means 8 writers. We have 6. There are only 2 spots left, so first come, first serve.

Sorry Hoody. Just make that idea into an independent script and do something different for Scarefest.

Why?

Write the script the way you want to and submit it.  The only difference is that it will be in the shorts section as "Your Title", instead of in the series section under "Scarefest: Your Title"

Shelton is absolutly right, Hoody. Don't toss the idea aside because it doesn't meet the requirments for Scrarefest.

I've dropped the approval thing, but what I said earlier about rushing a script into me still stands. Take your time.... Once you've finished your script, set it aside for a few days and then come back to it. You may have different feelings about it.

~Zack~
Posted by: Hoody, January 30th, 2008, 8:54pm; Reply: 30
I do plan on writing it.  I'll probably keep it in a television format cause it has the 3 acts and will only work as a 30 pager -- unless I drag it to feature length, which I won't.

A 10-15 page horror short should be no problem for me.  I can and most likely will write it in one sitting but if I didn't just tell you now, you'd never notice....that doesn't mean I'll write it and submit it an hour later.  I'll probably let it sit for a couple days and then come back and revise it 'til I feel it's ready for the world.
Posted by: Zack, January 30th, 2008, 8:59pm; Reply: 31
It's okay to write a script in one sitting... but it's not okay to write a script in one sitting and then say it's finished. Go over it a few times. Write another draft. And then, once you think it's finally finshed... write another draft.

Please remember to send me the title of your script once you have one.

What you can do is submit half of it in one episode for this series (or wherever you can find a good cliffhanger for the first half) and then you can submit the other half as a continuation to submit for the next series submission.

Just a suggestion.

Like I said, don't rush your script in to me. You have plenty of time. And don't forget to get let me know the titles of your scripts!

Ha Har Har.

Now that everything is in place, can this be moved to pms to keep it from turning into an epic trailer?

I knew someone would quote me there... And somehow I knew it'd be either you or Bert.

Yes, you can go ahead and lock this... until Season 2.
