Welp, since I've been writing again, my song-writing side has been emerging more and more the past month or so.  I've written three in the past month, as compared to about two I've written in the prior four years.

'screaming life' is the name of the collection for the poetry chapbook I want to put together and publish sometime this year.  These are some of the poems I've been contemplating putting in.

Summer of Scissors

Your scissor cuts are elegant
The scars have faded through the back porch doors
of jelly beans and stolen pearls
Empty inside this vacant girl

Don't dance or spin or cry outloud
It's your turn to whisper when you want to shout

And when you say that the world's froze over
Maybe we have
And when you say that summer's grown cold
Now maybe it has
And if you say that the sun doesn't shine
Maybe it's just in your life

You're falling quick with your innocence
The cuts carved deeper from the sculptured years
of plastered minds and your make-up eyes
Say your hello's quickly followed with your good byes

Now watch and speak with matted words
You think you're talking clear when it's only slurs

Don't dance or spit or make love in mud
If it's on your skin, then it's in your blood

And if you cut yourself one more time
There'll be no more hope in this heart of mine

And when you say that the world's froze over
Now maybe we have

lol don't feel bad, nobody comments about poetry on these boards...

Very good poem, i especially like the "Don't dance or spit or make love in mud
If it's on your skin, then it's in your blood" lines. They way you've incorperated rhyme is good.

Hey Robert,

I know this is about nine months late.  (Sorry, I've been off the boards for awhile.)

Thanks for taking a look at this, though.  Eventhough it's kind of depressing, (and probably corny), I really like going back and reading over old songs and poetry that I wrote.  It kind of helps me remember who I am.  Or at least who I was.
