Cheers Gabe,

Alffy sent me a pm saying he's probably not going to be able to do it.

If you take him off the list and if he gets the time he can rejoin.

Here’s what we have so far.

For “the collector” narrator:

Each episode the collector introduces us to an item in his collection.  Each item contains the shadow of a soul. The story you see is how the soul was lost.  The item must figure prominently into the story. 20-25 pages, supernatural, suspense.

Each episode the collector becomes a different character.  The story you see is how he collects the soul. The character the collector becomes must be the antagonist. 20-25 pages, supernatural, suspense.

The collector is a single (as yet undescribed) object.  Each episode the collector is found by the protagonist and the story is how the soul is collected.  The item must figure prominently into the story. 20-25 pages, supernatural, suspense.

Each episode one of the above choice occurs.  The story is about the loss of a soul.  One of the deadly sins must be present in the story. 20-25 pages, supernatural, suspense.

For “another” narrator:

The narrator provides an introduction to the story. Each episode one of the deadly sins is featured. 20-25 pages,  suspense.

Not a bad collection.   Do you want to vote now or do you want to discuss it some more?

One other thing I wanted to suggest is that maybe instead of releasing the scripts all in one go, it might be interesting if we stagger them so that one is released each week.  This gives the writers of the later scripts extra time, in case anyone has scheduling struggles. It also allows the readers to take some time off before reading another script in the series.

Cheers,

Michael

Nicely put together Michael, I thought we were going for 25-30 pages though?

I would vote for the second one you listed there. The collector becoming a different character in each episode. I think we would need someone else to be narrator though as who the collector is should be a reveal at some point in each episode. I'd like the deadly sins involved in some way. Just I think the character who's soul is lost should have a flaw and this would give the series an extra identity.

Agree with you about the weekly entry. Maybe just enter this to the series board?

We need 3 more writers though really if the 7 deadly sins are going to feature.

The numbers are dwindling. lol. Should we do something similar to Double Carnage or Bucket's of Blood, just a bit shorter and with the narrator involved. Just a thought. It saves the trouble for Don towards posting each one every week.

But I choose the one where the narrator speaks and then we go into the story(this is prob the second one that ste voted for. if it is, i'm in agreement). It seems more simple. The first one gets a bit complicated by that the narrator changes character.

The only problem is the overall theme. Is it going to be about the seven deadly sins? Don't know.

Hey elis, welcome.

Not to worry about people bailing, better to have them leave now than to do it when we are expecting them to present an episode.  If it has four episodes in it's first run it has four episodes.  They can be added to at our leisure and perhaps, in the future, we may gather other interested people.

The reason I said 20-25 pages is because we need room for the narration.  The finished script would actually be longer.   You don’t need to worry about the narration as you write the script,  that will be added later.

I think what we are voting on should be made clearer (Gabe seemed a bit confused).  Here we go.

A
“The collector” begins each episode as narrator by telling us about an item in his collection.  Each item contains the shadow of a soul.   The story that follows shows how the soul was lost. The item figures prominently into the story.  “The collector” sums up the story with an epilogue narration.

B
“The collector”, I think we’ll call him Soulshadows, begins each episode as narrator and sets up the story.  He then transforms into one of the story’s characters, the antagonist.  You watch how he collects the souls.  The story must have a clear antagonist and must involve one of the deadly sins.  “The collector” sums up the story with an epilogue narration.

I only include these two options because I think these are the two we are most interested in.  Vote A or B now.  I ‘ll be back with my vote.

I actually made it out without playing on the roullette aswell. My only charge was food on the way home for the driver and his girlfriend. Maybe if I didn't have that Jack Daniels I'd have won it though haha.

So, what's the plan with this? Are we going to set it off now with 5 writers or just set a date and hope to get a couple more?
Posted by: mcornetto (Guest), April 5th, 2008, 6:08pm; Reply: 16
I think we have enough to get started.  We'll do five episodes (possibly six because I spoke to someone else who may participate) and look around for another writer and someone to write the narration.  Or perhaps one or more of us will feel inspired to do more than one episode.

I have an idea of who I would like to see do the narration so I will ask them.  If we can't find someone else to do the narration then one of us will do it.

From what I see most everyone voted for A.    That would be the collector as the curator and narrator.  Story would be

- supernatural suspense
- a single item will be prominent in the story.
- the story, i guess, will contain at least one death in the proximity of the item.
- 25 - 30 pages including the narration.

Based on our original discussion, we would have six weeks to write an episode, so the date for delivering the episodes would be set on the

18th of May.

We can post the first one on the

31st of May

which would give two weeks to write the narration.  That should be plenty of time.  We release one a week after that.

Everyone ok with that schedule?  If so, get writing.

If the schedule does not work for you, let us know because it can be adjusted.

Cheers,

Michael

Just wanted to ask, where is the curator portion set? Is it set in the musuem as I suggested? If this was answered before I appoligize for asking again. I want to be sure before writing.

Gabe
Posted by: stebrown, April 6th, 2008, 8:40am; Reply: 18
Yeah I'm happy with that schedule.

Just a couple of things I wanted to double check.

Are we just writing the actual story to start off with? So, going straight after the item has been poined out?
Are we involving the seven deadly sins? If so are we going to just pick them ourselves even if some of them are in more than one script?
Posted by: stebrown, April 6th, 2008, 12:57pm; Reply: 19
I've started writing mine. Wanted to clear up this item business though.

Are we having the item as just something that represents the person who's soul it belongs to or is it something that has trapped his soul?
Posted by: Mr.Ripley, April 6th, 2008, 1:04pm; Reply: 20
"The story that follows shows how the soul was lost. The item figures prominently into the story."

I think there is some freedom to play around. I think it should not all be trapped or being a represetation. A good mix, i think is, since it keeps the readers on their toes. But that's me.

I'm stuck on where the curator part is going to take place? Lol.

Welcome aboard.  Yep, the seven sins one was a good idea but we voted and we are doing the other one, the one with the items.  Take a look at reply #16 for instructions.

Gabe,

You don't need to worry about the narration.   Your script should not include the narration. It will be added later.

Good luck with your writing everyone anyway.

I've got around 20 pages of a second draft. Needs some tweaking , a little experimenting with ommiting/adding scenes and then it's just a case of sorting out dialogue.

I am now free (ish) to start this now, I would hope to have a first draft finished by next weekend.
No idea yet what it is about mind you, I have set my mind to its 'wander' setting tonight and will see what it comes up with.

A thought struck me today however, has anyone got a list of the objects that people are writing about? No chance at all that by some strange coincidence that two people write about the same thing?

I was thinking of what Ste had done before on top but Bert suggested a good idea.

Do you think we should send each writer involved in the project a pm of what item they are using? So, we can have some idea of what each person is working on. Like a cumalitive list of what everyone is doing to prevent people from writing the same thing with the same object? (oddly conicdential but better to make sure).

IF this has been done, I didn't get it. :(

Next week, our narrator will be revealed.

In approximately two weeks the first Soulshadows will be submitted.  First up will be a hot script by an author who goes by the board name of 'me'.

The rest of the line up is still being discussed.

For those of you that haven't gotten a script in yet, there is still time to submit yours.

Soulshadows is nearing it's first submission.  As soon as that first submission happens I will announce the narrator, so stay tuned.  The line-up looks like it will be the following:

Me (Pia)
Michael C.
Stephen B.
Mike S.
Jordan W.

There are a couple of other possibilites for the list but I haven't heard from them in a while - so I don't know if they will have an episode ready or not.

Speaking of which, if you are suddenly inspired and want to write an episode  there are still 5 weeks left before you need to post it.  Let us know if you are interested and we'll get you started.

Remember to collect them all!

The first episode of Soulshadows should have been submitted by now, so within two weeks (probably sooner rather than later) it will be posted.

As promised we are going to unviel the narrator -- however -- rather than just blurt it out I think I'll tease you with it for a little while. It somehow seems to be the right approach.

Your first clues are.

The narrator's picture is on the boards - you can easily find it in many threads.
The narrator was penned by someone familiar to these boards but is not one of the listed authors.

More clues tomorrow.

There is a rumor -- never officially confirmed or denyed to my knowledge -- that Don does have a script on these boards.

The lone clues are that the name on the script is a false name -- and that there are no comments on the script -- which seems kind of sad.

If Don would only come clean and fess up, wouldn't it make for a good "Script Club" entry?
