Certainly looks like it.

Matthew Whitton, a cop in Clayton County, Ga., and his friend Rick Dyer, a former corrections officer, say they recently found the body in the woods of northern Georgia and will be revealing all at a press conference tomorrow.

BIGFOOT BODY FOUND - EVIDENCE AND DNA DETAILS TO BE PRESENTED AT A PRESS CONFERENCE ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 15th

FROM 12 N00N TO 1:00PM AT THE CABANA HOTEL-PALO ALTO IN PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA

A body that may very well be the body of the creature commonly known as “Bigfoot” has been found in the woods in northern Georgia.

DNA evidence and photo evidence of the creature will be presented in a press conference on Friday, August 15th from 12 Noon to 1:00pm at the Cabana Hotel-Palo Alto at 4290 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, California, 94306. The press conference will not be open to the public. It will only be open to credentialed members of the press.

Here are some of the vital statistics on the “Bigfoot” body:

*The creature is seven feet seven inches tall.
*It weighs over five hundred pounds.
*The creature looks like it is part human and part ape-like.
*It is male.
*It has reddish hair and blackish-grey eyes.
*It has two arms and two legs, and five fingers on each hand and
five toes on each foot.
*The feet are flat and similar to human feet.
*Its footprint is sixteen and three-quarters inches long and five and three-quarters inches wide at the heel.
*From the palm of the hand to the tip of the middle finger, its hands are
eleven and three-quarters inches long and six and one-quarter inches wide.
*The creatures walk upright. (Several of them were sighted on the same day that the body was found.)
*The teeth are more human-like than ape-like.
*DNA tests are currently being done and the current DNA and photo evidence will be presented at the press conference on Friday, August 15th.

The creature was found by Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer (residents of Georgia) in the woods in northern Georgia. (The exact location is being kept secret to protect the creatures.)
Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer will be flying in from Georgia to be at the press conference. Also present at the press conference will be Tom Biscardi, CEO of Searching for Bigfoot, Inc.
Whitton is a Clayton County, Georgia, police officer, who is currently on administrative leave after being wounded in the course of duty pursuing an alleged felon. Dyer is a former correctional officer. Whitton and Dyer are co-owners of bigfoottracker.com and Bigfoot Global LLC., a company that offers Bigfoot expeditions. Whitton and Dyer are working with Bigfoot hunter, Tom Biscardi, and Biscardi’s Searching for Bigfoot, Inc., to present and conduct the scientific study of the evidence and information on this body.

A few weeks ago, Whitton and Dyer announced the finding of the body on the “Squatch Detective” radio show, an internet based radio show hosted by Steve Kulls. While on that show, the commentator asked Rick Dyer “Would you allow one of our people to come down and verify the body?” Dyer replied, “The only person we would allow to come down and verify the body was ‘the real Bigfoot Hunter,’ Tom Biscardi.” The next day, the producer of the Squatch Detective show contacted Biscardi with pertinent information on how to contact Dyer and Whitton.

Extensive scientific studies will be done on the body by a team of scientists including a molecular biologist, an anthropologist, a paleontologist and other scientists over the next few months at an undisclosed location. The studies will be carefully documented and the findings will be released to the world, according to Biscardi.

Biscardi is known as “the real Bigfoot Hunter” because of his extensive investigations out in the field. He has been searching for Bigfoot since 1971 and over the past several years, he has been criss-crossing the United States and Canada tracking down the hottest leads on Bigfoot sightings.

Videography on the studies will be done under the supervision of Scott Davis, an independent producer and owner of TV Biz Productions in Phoenix, Arizona.
Currently, Tom Biscardi and his Searching for Bigfoot Team, in conjunction with Bigfoot Global LLC., are preparing to capture another of these creatures alive. That expedition will start very soon. The dates and the locations are being kept confidential.

The body that is currently being studied is being referred to as the “RICKMAT” creature, a name derived from the names of Rick Dyer and Matthew Whitton. [Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman recommends the term “Georgia Gorilla” be used to remove any taint of ego from the discovery, and so the general public, media, and science will have a comfortable moniker until a formal zoological name may be bestowed.]

Last year, a film that Biscardi produced about his investigations, called “Bigfoot Lives,” won first place in the Documentary category at the Pocono Mountains Film Festival. Biscardi also hosts a Bigfoot oriented internet radio show that can be heard on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm to 8:00pm PDT at http://www.bigfootliveradioshow.com. The show is heard in over thirty countries.

I usually take these "sightings" with a pinch of salt - so let's wait and see what the press conference brings.

Fake as you like.

It looks like a costume daubed with cows entrails.

Clearly someone is very short of money....

Haha....DNA evidence of what?  To compare with all the other Bigfoot DNA samples they have collected in the past?

You aren't actually buying into this are you, Gary?

HaHa, maybe Bert! ;-)

I agree it is more likely to be a hoax but it does seem a strange hoax to make, I mean they have got the worlds press onto this now, if they fail to deliver Bigfoot what have they got out of it? Lots of embarrassment and little else.

I am as cynical and skeptical as they come, I rarely believe anything but I don't know, they must have something, surely?

It would be cool though if it were true.

There was a story in the news here in England the other day about hairs that were found in India and were believed to be from a Yeti.

I don't see why not.  New species of animals are identified every year.  When that species of four inch snakes was found a week or two ago, did anyone cry fraud?  Or that fish found off the coast of Africa that, supposedly, was extinct for a bajillion years?

Well, sure.  In the ocean or in the deepest rainforests.

But a tribe of giant, hairy, undiscovered, humanoids in the wilds of....Georgia?

C'mon.  You are pulling my leg, right?

Why look, I just spotted a new species of Sheltus ignoramus!

I have an open mind to these things.  The DNA testing of that yeti hair would prove that it's not man, dog, monkey, whatever.  Let's see what happens.

One of the guys that found it has a gimpy arm after being wounded whilst working for the police. He's probably decided to make his money in a far easier fashion.

Famous Bigfoot Hunter comes along and says for X amount all you have to do is claim to find this crappy model I made and tell everybody that you saw a whole family of them. Then tell the media that you will allow it to be tested, but only by me.

If the hoax is discovered it means that they are just innocent victims of someone else's joke. After all they just found it and the "family" could just be the people that planted it, wearing suits.

Why would he do this?

As you say all the worlds media is now pointing squarely at our friend the BigFoot Hunter. He can run tests and decide it's a hoax. This gives him greater publicity whilst at the same time giving him greater credibility. Credibility that he can then use to sell more books and get more hits on his now suprememly popular website.

Meanwhile our farmer freinds have a nice pile of money for doing nothing but sign a confidentiality agreement. Everyone's a winner...

Hey,

Me thinks this to be a hoax. This guy doesn't have the greatest track record or respect within the big foot enthusiast community. I heard another guy, a cryptozooligist from the university of Washington, wail on him the other day even though he believed that bigfoot existed.

According to the guy from the university of Washington, they wouldn't have had enough time to sufficiently analyze the DNA sample between when they claimed to get the body and the press conference.  Also, the "corpse" looks like a costume to me.

Why would he do this then? Publicity. To fund his crap or sell books.

That said, I myself do believe in big foot. Lots of anecdotal evidence about them from numerous cultures going back hundreds of years.

The Giant panda was thought to be a myth before it was discovered in 1930, I think.

I haven't heard of this supposed "press conference." You'd think something like this would be big news and all over the web. I haven't checked out the link yet but I think it if it's a legitimate animal, then the description has more than likely been embellished to a degree that would peak the publicks interest.

Does Bigfoot exist? Hard to say. I don't think there's a missing link or anything, I'm a creationist. But I don't think it's beyond the possibility that a large animal might still exist in the uninhabited regions of the world. New species are being found almost daily.

I never knew Bigfoot was lost.
Just thought he was over in Hollywood, making commercials with those guys who tease him, and take off running. :-)

Seriously though. those pictures look fake. Really bad fake.

Do I think there is a bigfoot?
Sure.
There's a Dogman. :-)

Okay, this time I'll be serious.
Anything is possible, but those pictures look really fakey.

Yeah, but they formed a union to stomp out such maltreatment.
I hear they even have their own networking group: ABL,  the American Bigfoot League.
Oops, my bad.  I was thinking of the American Vampire League.

I'm a sasquatch junkie and truely believe that it has and still does roam the forests of North America, although I do believe that the numbers are twindling due to mankinds expansion.

I am one of the believers that sasquatch is a Gigantipithicus, that originated in Asia and crossed over to North America when the two continents were attached at Alaska. Infact, jaw remains have been found in Chinese caves that depict a giant bi-pedal Gigantipithicus. I believe Sasquatch is a descendant of that.

That being said, I've kept my eyes on this supposed captured bigfoot, and reading on various forums about the people involved, it looks to be a hoax.

All kidding aside, I too have a profound interest in sasquatch and other mythological creatures. My interest was sparked in the '60s, when I read "The Maybe Monsters" by Gardner Soule.

By now you've seen the recent footage of the chupacabra, caught on tape by a Texas lawman.  Interesting.

I think its an alien.  They came to colonize this planet and arrived at scattered places around the globe.   That's why there's sightings all over the world.  That doggy thing is probably one of their pets.  And when they analyze the bigfoot DNA it will usher in a new era of genetic science, cures for a bunch of diseases.  But then something will go wrong. It always does.

:-) American Vampire League. :-)

When I had my house, it had two acres of woods behind it, and I found a vampire hanging upside down in a tree...

Oh wait, I wanted to be serious again...

I found some strange tracks in the mud back there. They were a cross between hands and feet. The shape of a foot with really long toes.
They were really strange.
Don't know what it was.

meh. Whether BigFoot, Nessie, and all those other monsters were real or not, it doesn't matter anymore. They'd be frickin' dead by now  anyways.

My favorite theory is that bigfoot is a sort of lycanthrope and that is why he is so rarely seen and why no bodies have been found--Once dead, Bigfoot changes back into being human.

This dead body would disprove that theory.  So, some would, does common sense.

Well, it's thought that the tortoise found in the Galapagos have a life span of 200 years...

But in reality, when we talk about 'bigfoot' we don't talk in singular term, we talk about the existence of a species.

Also, in my province alone (British Columbia, Canada) there are miles and miles of uncharted and unlivable land... perfect places for things to hide out. ;-)

I think there may be Sasquatches out there, but this isn't one of them...This is a Hoax. Bigfeet are notorious pranksters...They love to mess with them redneck boys...

I do feel sorry for the poor possum that they gutted to get the "intestines" look on the gorilla costume they jammed into the cooler...

I am much too lazy to look this up myself, but somebody should fill us in as to what was covered in this alleged "press conference" of theirs.

As moderator, I officially designate that as Gary's job because he started all of this silliness.
Posted by: MacDuff, August 19th, 2008, 1:34pm; Reply: 32
I'm not Gary, but...

the press conference was nothing really. Only a couple of photographs and an email stating that DNA testing was (sort of) identified as an un-known species.

But since the press conference, it's been 99% proven a hoax. Supposedly one of the people named in the press conference has come clean and said that the body is fake. The person is supposed to release something on some sort of bigfoot-related radio show in the next few days.

Also to note, the person who held the conference (Tom Biscardi) has already been proven a hoaxster a few years back when he claimed to have a live bigfoot in a cage. When people called him on it, he disappeared from public.

Cheers Bert!

I was trying rather sheepishly to ignore this thread in the vain hope it would curl up and die a natural death and my onset of severe attack of naivety would go largely unnoticed. Fat chance! Bert is right, i started this silliness. Yes, surprise, surprise the press conference was a bit of a joke to be honest and all they succeeded in doing was making monkeys of the worlds press who turned up to it.

I was taken by the story, OK of course I thought it probably end up being a hoax (although had hopes it would be real) but I was hoping that it would be a bloody clever hoax. A throwback to the old days before the Interweb and 24 hour TV when good old fashioned hoaxes seem so skillfully pulled off that they would fool the world. The Photograph of the fairies in an English garden or the Alien Autopsy for example. These were more innocent times when people couldn't jump onto google and debunk everything before it even starts.

What I never assumed is that a couple of idiots could think they could fool the world with what Pia has correctly called a Halloween costume and a handful of Possum innards. I expected much more, but I stupidly over-estimated the capabilities of our little Bigfoot hunters.

Of course I wanted it to be true and still think that there is a chance of Bigfeet our there in the world somewhere (recent sightings in the Himalayas') but sadly in this case it seems not.

But we should not allow a couple of Missing links from Georgia to throw a spanner in the works of the whole idea of Bigfoot or related. There seems to be a fair bit of credible evidence that points to a 'Super Sea Creature' much bigger than Blue Whales that only lives in the depths of the oceans but who's giant roar has been captured on Sonar a few times, this will not doubt be discovered at some point.

As Fox Mulder once said - "I want my sister back!"
