Written by Tucker Max (tuckermax.com). It's based on his stories of getting drunk and having sex with random people. They are very funny, and some say he makes them up.

He wrote it with some guy, and they want creative control over the whole movie, so they went around asking production companies if they could finance it and keep creative control.

So Richard Kelly, the guy who made Donnie Darko (there's a second one coming out... disaster?) are giving them money.

My question here is, will this movie be a flop? Because Tucker doesn't know that much about making movies, yet he's gonna make it how he wants it could turn out terribly.

Or will it be awesome. The next Beerfest/American Pie/Superbad. Awesome because it is witty and funny, regardless of the fact that it could be dodgy from a film making point of view...

How ever much ass those movies suck, I'm sure it'll be a hit.

This filmed in Louisiana around July.

There's a ton of discussion about it here and here

The production blog (second link) is a little easier to sift through if you're late to the party.  It says it's coming in the spring of 09, but last I heard the distro deal wasn't yet in place, and could potentially be pushed back as late as September.

The script is one of the worst I've ever read.

Are you talking about the one that was leaked a few months ago?  That was a ridiculously early draft that TM leaked on purpose, for whatever reason.

Even if it was an early draft (which, according to his website was Draft 7), it was atrocious, and I'm sure the later draft isn't much better.  His sense of humor is about as low as you can go.

Yeah, you and I both read the same draft, and I definitely agree with you that it was pretty bad.

What it looks like now, I have no idea, but hopefully the development process went into overdrive and it turns out alright.

I read 10 pages of that draft and closed it. Ewww. I read that it had undergone massive changes. So that's good.
