Hey DC...the generally accepted rule is that you must earn reads by reading other people's scripts. Particularly with a 120 page feature - head over to the Review Exchange board to set something up formally. Also, re-uploading this in pdf format would help. I can't open it at the mo.

That’s not unusual. A lot of people check out the logline for every script that gets added. They choose to read or not based on numerous reasons; time, interest, etc.

Dramas conventionally don’t get read as often. Scripts with long loglines get skipped a lot as well. A lot of people will click over here, see your long logline, and click away. People who are more curious probably click on the section several different times between deciding whether or not to read.

Long loglines are generally considered a sign the writer isn’t very economical and usually means there will be a lot of unnecessary exposition in the script.

Some readers absolutely will not read a script from a member who does not read other scripts so your one post count will definitely hurt you as far as getting reads.

Not saying that’s why you haven’t been read. Just tossing some possibilities out there.

OK, writers...thanks for the tips!  I'm on it, but I'm just a Rookie.  New LOG LINE: The Rooster is Sean Patrick Murphy, a cop torn between loyalty and justice, and his passion to become a country singer.  AND please excuse the typo on the synopsis.  It should read...an Irish cop in the "Elephant's Graveyard" in SF.

Also: I have sent Don a PDF version of the script.

Hey I can't wait to read your script when it comes up in PDF, it sounds good, I'm not usually into cop movies or shows, but i usually like to read scripts with exactly 120 pages, I don't know why. Anyways hope the script's good...

Hey, JohnnyBoy, can ya give The Rooster a read?  

Hey DC, in my reply to your PM I promised to give this a read, and I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten you. I have started on this and am a good way through it.

However...I have no idea what to say about it! I can't decide what my reaction to it is. At the moment I'm a bit confused, but I'm probably going to get to the end, perhaps read it again, and then think of things to say. I can say this, though: the opening is a very intruiging one. The action on the bridge, and the very well-written voiceover, did keep me reading. Trouble is, after that my grip on what was happening slowly began to loosen.

I have a lot of free time next week, so I promise you will have some sort of a review by the end of next weekend. I know that's not what you were hoping for but sorry, bear with me, and try PMing other people! Maybe someone more experienced at reading features (particularly musicals - I've never read a musical script before) could more readily offer helpful insights than me. I'll do my best though.

Also, and I don't know if you've been doing this, but try reading scripts posted by other members. Start with the shorts section, and maybe move onto features later. That way, you're more likely to get return reads when you ask for them. I should have something new up soon, something about 15% of the length of The Rooster...give that a read, if you like. I WILL finish yours though, so don't worry if you can't get round to it for now.
