SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Questions or Comments  /  A silly question....or not

I just found out a short I wrote was filmed in Germany, now I did get an email asking me if it was ok to shoot it and I said yes not thinking it would ever get made cause I thought it was unfilmable.  I did some checking around last week and found an actor's reel and a clip of my script was part of it.  I emailed the director to see if I  could get a copy but I have yet to get a response, but some of the actors in it have it as part of their resume and their emails are available.  So my question is, would it be dickheadish of me to email one of these actors to see if I could get a copy of it?  I'm not looking for money I just really wanna see it.

Ohh, what short was it? Well done for getting it filmed!

I think it's fine to email an actor if the director isn't writing back to you... go for it.

I don't think it would be. Sounds more than reasonable. I was contacted a while ago to have a script made into a movie by some students in Cali. I said go for it, and I never got a response after...

I might e-mail him again.

Give the director a chance to contact you.  If you don't hear from him by the week's end, e-mail him again.  He'll probably send it.

I've had a number of people ask to shoot something of mine, only to disappear on me.  Some eventually get in touch with me (after my numerous e-mails) to say they're not doing it.  Others won't even bother with the e-mail.  I eventually write to them, saying they no longer have permission to use my work.

If you can get in touch with one of the actors, I would say do it.  You sent the email to the director about a week ago now, and I think it's highly unlikely that they have yet to read it.

Keep in mind that the actors may not have copies to send you.

That's not a silly question!!!

I think you should try to contact anyone you can on that short. Why??? Because I want to f'n see it!!  ;D One of the most daring scripts at SS and the only one to get a Warning from Don!!!!!!    ;D

Good luck dude!  ;-)

I don't think it's unreasonable to contact the actors if you haven't heard from the director.  I do think you should first ask them if they can contact the director for you and ask him or her to get back to you and then ask them if they can't get a hold of the director you were wondering if they might have a copy.

Pia.... A warning?! I don't believe it! Was it bad formatting? Or maybe your spelling was a bit off? It can't have been the content! :)

What script is it that got you a warning for?

me too, I'm curious what it looks like, from the 30 seconds I saw it looked pretty good and some of the actors have actually done stuff, one of them was even in an American film, it didn't look like a college film project.

Ima gonna email two of the actors tomorrow, their profile says they speak fluent English, I'm pretty sure one of 'em has a copy since he used a clip of it in his reel, I just don't wanna come off as a creeper.

it's at the 20 second and 2:07 mark if you're interested

Oh Linkin Park (@ 20 seconds). The film looks like it was made properly, as you said, it doesn't look like a college film project.

If I could speak German I could comment on what they are saying!

Keep us updated...

Good stuff. Didn't understand a word of it, but looks damn good.

Can't wait to see more. Should be, well not sure if enjoyable is the right word, but it should be awesome.

Congrats dude, hope it all works out.

Nice, looks decent man. I used to speak German pretty well, so I could understand bits and pieces being said... But seeing as I haven't spoken much German for about 3 - 4 years, I look forward to reading subtitles ;)
