I hadn't seen it for about 3 years, and thought that you guys might be interested in it... In my opinion, it's one of the best made shorts I've watched; Pretty cool concept, very decent quality, and well directed.

I'm at work so I didn't keep it on too long.  It's kind of like George Orwell meets Quentin Tarantino.  I'll finish watching it later at home.

I saw this before a major cinema release, it may have been a Guy Ritchie film.

It's a great little film. It's a shame that they've stopped showing shorts before features. It's something I'd hoped would come back in with the new digital projectors.

They went out of fashion because you'd have to pay every time the short was shown and no-one ever pays to watch the short, plus the beginning of the film roll gets damaged first so the quality started to die rerlatively quickly.

It's a shame though. There as so many great short made that it's unfortunate that so few get to see them.

It's very well done. All aspects of it. Bit out there... just a warning for everyone watching.

That's awesome; I remember him telling me he got it into some cinemas, but unfortunatly I never got round to seeing it at a cinema.

I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was around £500. Quite a bit of the money went on camera hire, and buying film stock, as he only has a (very decent) digital camera. Oh, and hiring out the warehouse wasn't too cheap...

But I'm glad you guys liked it :) He's also set to direct a dark comedy film which he co-wrote... It's been optioned by Vertigo Films, which is pretty fucking awesome.

He's a decent director... Pretty weird, but very talented.

Great short, really loved it.

I think people here need to see more shorts and see how they work... some produced shorts here are CRAP, no offense to anyone... anyway... loved this one.

No, i don't think it's the writers fault. In my opinion the director should evolve the idea on the script, in other words he must add his own way of making it, visually I mean. Some of the shorts have that problem. This one doesn't have that problem, you can see the directors touch, while in others it's just a produced script with not visualization.

I agree.  I guess I just find it odd that you're talking about things related to direction on a board that's predominately inhabited by writers.

As far as this film, I don't imagine there being much to the script at all.  The director was credited as one of the screen adaptors, while the other was the one who came up with the idea.  On paper this is probably pretty flat, but it didn't really have to be all that involved.

Glad you guys liked it :) And yeah, his friend (who was also involved with the production - can't remember how exactly) came up with the basic idea  (a killing factory, and the killer takes a break, shows some human characteristics, then continues on with the job), and I'm pretty sure my step brother just storyboarded the film from the basic idea.

Ewww! That was disgusting and horrible. But brillant.

Very talented director and I admire anyone willing to march to the beat of their own drum.

I wish there was more up and coming directors out there that are as bold as your step brother.


And I agree with NIK to a certain extent that a lot of shorts that pop up here are not so much crap but just safe and pedestrian and lack vision.

But a few shorts have also been good too but not many.

I liked it ok, but I wouldn't consider it one of the best I've seen.

For me, the problem was in the writing, and it's the same one I've been noticing in a lot of shorts here lately.  The problem being that there is no story.  Nothing happens here.

The quality and the concept were both great, but for me there really needs to be a point.  So props to your brother on the directing, but I think it would be more interesting to see what he could do with a better script.
