Just wondered what the thoughts were regarding this stunt and generally towards Sacha Baron Cohen?

Personally I massively admire his dedication to performance - such as last night where he remains totally 'in character'. I mean, that's not easy to do, surely - plus his annoying Eminem was pretty amusing, it must be said.

I thought the stunt was hilarious but I found it deplorable that Twilight won best movie over The Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire, or Iron Man.

Haha, I thought it was funny stuff.  But I wonder whether Eminem was in on the stunt.

It's obvious MTV has a bias towards Twilight

There's no way Eminem was in on that, he's not that good an actor. You could see how pissed off he was, it totally undermined his hard man image.

It was the funniest thing seen all year IMO. I just hope the film is as funny.

I don't understand how anyone could think Eminem was in on the stunt. This is the same guy who tried to punch out Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. I guess he does have sort of a funny side but he's never been one for self deprecation. Biggest crybaby in the bizz. His new music sucks too.

As for the Awards themselves, eh. There were a few precious funny moments, Bruno included, but the awards themselves are and always have been a farce. Twilight's already been mentioned but I think it should also be noted, only on MTV would Ben Stiller win a lifetime achievement award.

Did you guys read the article? It says from one of the MTV writers that Cohen and Eminem were in on the stunt "They rehearsed it backstage"

I am not a fan of Borat. The guy is like the rest of those camera shows and really doesn't do anything exciting. At least jackass has stunts.

Yeah it was all planned guys!

I love Borat. And Ali G even more. I am guessing the next movie with Bruno as the star will be a huge success and extremely funny.

What shows are similar to the stuff he does Wesley? I want to watch them :)

Jackass is the same stuff. Jamie Kennedy's show from a few years back. Punk'd. I could go on all day of shows that are cancelled now because they suck'd.

Ali G is a decent character but Borat is a turn off.

Lots of shows fall into the same category but they're not funny.

Hidden camera shows for real reactions are nothing new... Candid Camera.

Look for National Lampoons Lost Reality.

Forgot to add this in my first post. Do you really think Eminem's bodyguard would have just sat there like he does if it were real? He would have killed Borat.

For once, I won't be so quick to feel dumb. I read that while there were rehearsals for the stunt, Eminem wasn't present for any of them. But then it's been five years. Who knows? Maybe Eminem's turned over a new leaf. Can't say I really care either way. It was still funny when it happened.

Unless you're in eminem's shoes... How is it funny to have some guy's bare arse in your face? Eminem shoulda kicked him in the nuts IMO.
The only Cohen character I like is Ali G. Everything else is over the top silly.

I'm a massive Eminem fan and I found it funny as f***! I thought at the start it was staged, like everything else on the night.

I still found the whole show funny though. I liked Jim Carrey's acceptance speach, Keifer Sutherland's over acting and the presenter guy hitting on Megan Fox. The only thing I hated was Twilight stealing all the awards. I did like the movie for what it was but the awards were in no way justified. I think the cast were a bit embarrassed the longer the night went on by it all.

I think it could go either way with Eminem - I mean, look at his videos, he's a joker himself and with his new album out, this PR will do him no harm. If anything, his 'storming out' of the awards reaffirms his tough image.

He has a tough image? On his new album he has a song about being raped by his father... and he dresses like a woman in videos.

It may be funny and all on both accounts but it doesn't exactly portray a tough image.

The stunt was still hilarious, if planned. But with Relapse debuting at #1 in several countries over the world and still going strong, this won't hurt him at all.

I think a tough guy image encompasses more than just your art - he does what you mention for his art. It's clear that Eminem plays himself as a tough guy.

IMDB reported yesterday that this stunt was completely staged.

I guess that makes me feel kind of bad, and makes me wonder how much of the stuff in "Bruno" is staged.

Worth it for this clip alone.

Yes, but EMINEM wants the nuts to be his!

The whole shebang looked pretty disgusting to me.  Borat, Bruno, whatever.  Everything I've seen of this Cohen guy has just irked the crap out of me.  There's only one Bruno. . .and that's Bruce Willis!!!

P.S. - I watched it, but I am not going to comment on the syrup of IPECAC video.  Yuck!

Well, I'm not American, and I thought this very funny.

Little lost on who this? Btw, who is the guy interviewing? I thought he was great. The 'victim' was amusing.

Favourite bit - the guys on the wall chiming in every now and again. This was tightening the noose and had me chuckling.
