So, here's the red-band trailer of "Legion":



I gotta say, this film confuses me.  The synopsis says that it's about a band of warriors trying to save a woman who is carrying the second coming of Christ.  What I'm trying to figure out is, why would God try to assassinate the second coming?  Also, they better set up this world as a place where God isn't omnipotent, because that'll be a pretty damn big flaw too.

Overall, it looks entertaining enough, but I forsee plot holes a' plenty.

Hasn't this plot been done before? The Seventh Sign with Demi Moore?

Not to mention The Matrix, The Prophecy...

When I saw this I got the impression this was a jazzed up remake of that Christpher Walken movie where he is Gabriel. Then I just went COOL!

Any movie that plays on Bible mythos makes me sit up and take notice.


Oh and Dressel why the hell would God try to kill his own son? That's just crazy talk. (Oops dang! I forgot about the whole Jesus died on the cross for our sins- my bad) I'm guessing it would be Satan behind it.



In the Bible Legion was a horde of demons possessing one man who Jesus cast them evil demoms out of that man and hurl the legion of demons into a herd of pigs that ran into a river and drowned- or something like that.  

Looks pretty cool to me.

It really looks kind of stupid.

It looks like it can't decide between being an Action or a Horror movie. It doesn't even look like a blend of both. The trailer showed too much, anyway, even for a red band trailer.

Seculded location+angry angels attacking a group of strangers=cool and scary.

Gun-toting angels+Creepy-crawlies gunned down by normal folks armed to the teeth= ridiculous. If I wanted to watch that, I'd watch Constantine.

The character Michael is what brings down the movie IMO. Too conventionally hero-like.

Good premise (even if it's been done already), bad execution. Or so it seems. We will see.

I wasn't impressed at all when I saw the trailer. As previously mentioned, a lot of the themes in this movie were already done in other films. And was it just me, or did the special effects look like shit? In today's world, theres simply no excuse for poor CGI and theres nothing that brings me out of a movie more than bad graphics.

Believe me, I'm not trying to defend this film or anything, but has God actually been made out to be the enemy in a film?

(Not sure about "The Golden Compass".  Might need some explanation on that one.)

I think we'd all like some explanation on that one. What a piece of shit film...such a shame, too, considering that the books are so amazing. Please don't base your opinions on that story from the film. Find and read the incredible original novels.

There is no 'God' in His Dark Materials. What there is, is 'The Authority', the first angel to come into being. Since he was first, when other angels came he convinced them that he had in fact created them, and the universe. There is a war between angels in the final book, but The Authority does not really have any role in it - old and senile, he has long since passed command over to the angel Metatron, who is one of the real antagonists. So no, God's not really the enemy. He makes one brief appearance towards the end of The Amber Spyglass. What happens to him? Well, read it and find out!

If you're talking purely in terms of Northern Lights (the original name of The Golden Compass), then the enemy is the Church, or at least specific parts of it - mainly the General Oblation Board. That's not the same as God actually being the enemy; after all, no angels appear in the trilogy till the end of The Subtle Knife.

How they ever planned to film those books as PG certificates, I'll never know...the main male character loses fingers in the second book, and when the angels do appear, every single one of them is naked. Including the women. So what were they going to do? Completely compromise the book's integrity, or slap a much higher rating on it? One's artistic suicide, the other commercial suicide. Of course, I know which one they would have gone for, so thank goodness they stopped after only having produced one steaming turd of an adaptation. And yet it can legitimately call itself an Oscar-winning movie...
