I did not like the previous Saw, so I didn't know what to expect here. The twist is great, I loved the ending and it did surprise me. Good film, much much much better than the last 4.

7.5/10

I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I am a fan of the series, so I figured I would like it, but the movie actually had a story. There were characters, rather than just going from death to death. Enjoyed it better than 3, 4 and 5.

Order: I, II, VI, III, V, IV.

Interesting, VI is possibly my favorite and it was DEFINITELY because of the story.

Order: VI, III, II, I, V, IV

What a twist!

Really? I must have been enjoying it so much I forgot that.

What did you think of the traps?

My mind caught half the sentence following the words "massive spoilers". If you're going to put spoilers on a review thread, leave some space after the warning, so unsuspecting people who love the movies and just want to see what people think don't catch something they don't want to read. Saw movies bank on those big twists and knowing any part of them ruins the first viewing.

As such, I notated the thread as having spoilers so no one else accidentally reads the spoiler. Fortunately, I don't understand what I read, but now, I'll have the words "I can't believe what she did to Hoffman" and "I knew when she held onto #6" going through my head when I view it. I have a feeling it'll make sense when I watch it (unfortunately), and I hope the big twist isn't too spoiled by this info.

I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, but the "spoiler" warning caught me off guard.

For me, the big twist at the end is what I look forward to at every Saw movie. Saw VI is the only one where I knew what was happening at the end half way through, it's like they didn't even try to disguise it, which annoyed me.

Apart from the non-existent twist ending, this was a pretty strong entry in the series, which is surprising as Saw V was major bad and Saw IV just about average. I had to look away several times at some of the gore and the characters were actually interesting for a change. Without giving away any spoilers, one scene stood out, very tense stuff, I think it was in a lab. Look out for it.

All in all, this needed a great twist like the others to make it great, but it's still miles ahead of IV and V.

I don't get it. It seems like, with the exception of my brother and myself, everyone likes IV better than V. Lol. Maybe people hate on it more because McGrevey bites it in the end. I know I was saddened by that, but at least they killed him off before he got annoying like Donnie Wahlberg. Shame. He should've been dead in III. =(

Steam room? Probably not, but I don't remember a lab, off-hand.

Saw V had too many flashbacks for my liking. It spent the entire movie filling in gaps and extending scenes from past films to make the twist at the end of IV make sense.  I thought it was very poor, only just watchable.

Saw IV got it right, the flashbacks were well used and the twist satisfied. The writers did well on that one considering the previous writers killed Jigsaw at the end of Saw 3 and had no intention of coming back to write the next one.

SPOILERS

Maybe it wasn't a lab, I'll say recording room...when they are waiting on the results of the recording. Tense stuff, best scene in the movie by a mile, I reckon.
Also, what was the point in the blonde girl with the glasses? She served no purpose in this for me.
Another point, in the trailers it says Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally revealed. What a let down that is then. I thought it would have been something bigger than insurance people but I guess it does make sense with him having cancer and all. It's a long way off what Jigsaw is really known for, helping people who have taken their lives for granted.

END SPOILERS

Still, this is much better than a sixth installment in a series has any right to be.  I did enjoy this, probably because I wasn't expecting much. I can't wait to see if they can better this in VII.

Oh, I know what you're talking about now. Yeah, that scene was good. Lol. For some reason, all that popped into my head were traps. Lol.

Blonde girl was what's-his-face's wife. That's all.

Well, maybe it comes full circle because he went after people who took other people's lives for granted? Not sure, but that was a bit disappointing, but not surprising with VII and VIII coming guaranteed.

Oh, come on. Not all 6th installments are bad. Just look at Freddy's Dead. Lol. All right, bad example, but at least it was hilarious in its awfulness as opposed to Nightmare on Elm Street 5... =)

It's not the end because Saw VII has been written, the second draft anyway

I know Saw VII has been confirmed but to be honest, going by the box office numbers, 8 would be too far. I think it ended up $15 opening weekend compared to $28-30m+ openings for the last four films. That's a big drop, meaning it might not be long before they just go straight to DVD. Saying that, $15m opening will still turn a profit so I'm probably wrong on this.

All this talk has put me in the mood for a Saw week, watch one every night this week.
