SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Ah, I finally noticed the introduction thread...

Hi - nice to virtually meet all of you! Some of you may have already read my music posts and deduced that I'm a huge classic rock fan and trivia nut...

I've posted my first script "Grand Avenue" under the comedy section.  My comedy likes and influences are Woody Allen, Python, The Young Ones and Buddy Hackett.  From this generation I love Rock, Louis C.K., Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, Dom Irrera and Gilbert Gottfried.

And I'm a fan of classic comedy shows like The Odd Couple (I type that with all due reverence and genuflecting), Taxi, Cheers and WKRP.

Looking forward to great discussions and even greater works of the pen - Anthony

ajrscreenworks / Anthony,

Wecome. Hope you have fun. I owe about fifty reads or something silly but I will have a look at yours once I'm more straight. Er, with reads that is.

Anyone who likes Woody Allen, Python and The Young Ones can have any many biscuits with their tea as they like round my house.

Keep it up.

ajrscreenworks / Anthony,

Wecome. When I am slightly less homosexual I will read your work.

I like WOOD, PYTHONS (wink, wink) and I like them YOUNG.

Please come over to my house so I can dip my biscuit in your tea.

Keep "it" up.

It didn't properly copy your quote over RV, so I had to copy it word for word from a different tab. I think I got it basically right...

Welcome Anthony!

As you will soon find out, music isn't a HUGE thing here, but there are many people, like you, who are very into it and will love to chat about it.

Enjoy your stay.

Hello ajrscreenworks,

Wow someone good at trivia! I'm the person always asking, "What show was he in again?"

I also enjoyed the Odd Couple. For some reason right now I'm thinking about the Frasier show. That was a good one that I enjoyed too, but doesn't go back quite as far.

Ah, Sandra, don't encourage me - I quote "The Odd Couple" at the drop of a hat!

Thanks, and hope to read your work someday.

Welcome Anthony.

Au contraire, it is you who should not encourage Sandra.   Otherwise we may all end up in a different dimension...a dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge...

Sandra knows I'm joking...sort of.

Actually, I know that you are speaking the truth, my dear Michael.  :) Yes, and that was very beautiful. I'm noting that down and we must use that in a script.  :) :) :)

Oh um, all due respect, but that’d be plagiarism Sandra ... that's the TZone.

Sandra, you probably didn't recognize it straight off cause you dwell in that time and space continuum permanently. I actually suspect you are a platinum card-carrying member.  Been there a lot myself lately. It's kinda’ mind-blowing. Quite a few members reside there actually.  Well we are writers, right?!

“You unlock this door with the key of imagination.
‘That’s the signpost up ahead.’

Okay. Enough!! Now I’m just 'encouraging.'

Did you see the signpost Anthony? If you didn't... well, you’re in big trouble. It's a veritable riot, is SS. You have been warned!

P.S. I'd like a choccy bikkie with my tea pls.

Te-he! You know what? I was almost going to write, if you didn't steal it Michael,, but then I thought, no, Michael is that brilliant. And he is.

But you know, I wouldn't have known for sure if it were a line from a movie or not. Not most of the time. I just haven't seen enough movies.

Thanks LC, but even now, you could be pulling my leg.

Luvya,

Sandra

Oh no, not pulling your leg Sandra. And, am in no way am detracting from MC's obvious talents. Was speaking of the 'Twilight Zone' to which he doth quote. And of that being the same place some of us reside when we are in the ‘writing zone’.

Btw, "the term "twilight zone" predates the television program, and originally meant simply a "gray area." … Rod Serling himself chose the title of the series, and said that only after the series aired did he discover that the "twilight zone" was also a term applied by the US Air Force to the terminator, the imaginary border between "night" and "day" on a planetary body."

Luvya too Sandra (there's a lot of it to go around)!

Okay, back to Anthony... sorry mate.

Wow!!! You should see my look of surprise and amazement!!! That is too cool!!! I'm learning new things everyday!!! Beats the hell out of old school.

Thank you so much!

They do.  They're all about serving man.

I'll have mine turned over and easy....

But enough about cookbooks.

I honestly thought that everyone would get my reference to TZ without issue, but I was wrong.  As a matter of fact the two people whom were most important to understanding were the ones who didn't get it. But it certainly wouldn't be the first time that people totally missed the point of something I wrote because of a reference they didn't recognise.  I'll have to...use it as a plot device....yeah...

Nothing wrong with being gay Tommy. I know you want me. Get in the queue lad! However wishful thinking is just not enough. I want dinner and wine and chocolates first. Oh and don't forget the lube dude. Oh, and your Gimp mask.

And obviously then Granville will take over whilst I film and add it to my extensive collection. Soon to be online for a reasonable monthly fee. Join now while offers last!

I'm outta chocolate, and the less said about that, after the above discussion, the better. Custard creams and Jaffa Cakes do you?
