I just finished reading this. Great book.
First in a horror trilogy by Guilermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The first 80 pages are as good as any book I've read.

Great book.

Is a pretty lame-ass review.  I mean, I have not heard of this -- and you have peaked my interest --

-- but now I've gotta go Google the shit.  You gave me nothing here.

If you are gonna post in the review thread, you should maybe review a bit?

Shit, sorry, bert. I just assumed people would have heard of it or even read it. It came out back in August I think, has its own website and all.

It is the G Del Toro, th efilm director. Chuck Hogan is an author with some good credits to his name, though i haven't read any of his other book. I picked this out at the library.

I don't to give away too many details but it begins with a plane landing at JFK, with 200 passengers in from Berlin. Suddenly, the lights go out, engines fail and all contact is lost as it sits on the runway. These scenes are done well, giving an insight into emergency measures used in real life.
Anyway, a memeber of the Disease Centre goes on board and all are dead(maybe) but with no signs of blood, struggle or violence.
It is set in 2010 and the first solar eclipse for 400 years is due over new York City.

Um, I don't wanna give away too much, bert. but there's a timeless evil involved, a survivor of a Nazi death camp trying to save mankind from doom, etc.

The book does end on a cliffhangar sort of note, so we'll have to wait for the next one.

Its funny, bert. when i started scrolling down, I thought you had read it and were gonna say it was shit and what was I thinking??!!

anyway, its a good read if you like horror and plenty of gory stuff and an end of world premise.  cheers
