Hey everyone,

So I've been pretty quiet about this for some time now, but I've been developing Casting Kristin into a feature film for the past three months.  I didn't really want to talk about it until things seemed a lot more solid.  But the wheels have been moving and we're getting pretty optimistic that this dream will become a reality.

My producer's really big on social networking sites, so if you're interested, you can follow us on Facebook:

I'll be keeping the site updated with all the developments with the film.  Our goal is to shoot August 2010.  Wish us luck!  :-)

Great work Matt - really excited for you! It's a great script, and will make a great film. I too became a fan.

By the way, just wanted to congralute Michael on coming up with a truly terrific title. It's perfect.

I read what it was all about.  Sounds very funny, something I'd like to go to the cinema to watch.

Fan here.

The script was posted here a few months back, but I took it down once we entered development.  It's undergone a new draft since then, and I'd kind of like to keep it under wraps.

(Also, my producer would kill me.  :-)  )

Great stuff, Matt. You've inspired me! Hope it all pans out well.

So, I'm a fan, too haha.

I was intrigued by the casting thus far, and am frustrated that I do not remember the script better.

Without giving too much away, refresh my memory of who Gerald and Mr. Denkins are, exactly.  Is that the loopy guy and his butler?  Their names did not stick with me, and I do not remember any other "older" characters.

Terrific work, Matt.

Well done.

Added and interesting to see so many SSers actually on Facebook!

Mr. Denkins is a pretty small role: it's Aaron's boss at the movie theater.

Gerald is the kindly old deaf man who accompanies Aaron on his journey.  I actually wrote the part with James in mind.

Fun fact:  I was going to share this on Facebook later, but I figure I'd jot it down here.  James Karen was one of three people in Samuel Beckett's only film EVER.  How crazy is that?

I'm on board! Congratulations, Matt, and best of luck.

Congratulations, Matt!

I don’t know if this is the one we spoke about a while back but I’m glad to see you getting somewhere with one of your projects. :)

Best,

Breanne

Congrats Dress.

Looks like you're doing a good job.

One word of advice:

Put some funds into the kickstarter pot yourself to get it off 0%. No-one wants to be ther first, it makes them feel like they are in danger of falling for a scam.

Filmmakers give their films away for free in exchange for reviews on I-Tunes, because no-one will buy a film that doesn't have a review, they are more likely to buy it if it is a poor review than none at all.

People just need reassurance that it is legit.

I'm sure I read two drafts of this when it was called "Producing Fiction". I hope it turns out great! Well done!

And yeah, you did.  I seriously can't thank Michael enough for coming up with such a better title.

Thanks Julio.

This has all been a pretty crazy ride for me, and I'm not even all the way through development yet!  But honestly, I've learned more about the actual process of making a film in the last three months than my entire time in film school.  If anybody on the boards is ever thinking about making a film, I'd be happy to talk about all that goes into it.  It's kind of annoying because the information IS out there, but a great deal of people want you to pay for it through the nose.

Sounds like you should be a guest on the SS podcast. :)

Funny you mention that...I was actually supposed to be on the last podcast, but my headset was broken.  So outside of horribly inconveniencing everyone by making them start the show late, I didn't even show up.  :-(
