Hi everyone,
I just joined here last night, my name is Chris, I am 27, male, from Louisiana, and I am currently attending college, where I am taking a screenwriting course, in addition to a video production course. I have been involved in screenwriting for almost 10 years off and on, though at times it has been very frustrating, in terms of my growth as a screenwriter, and also because of the way some people have treated me online. I had a script submitted for the old Project Greenlight competition way back in 2002, but it never made it past the first round. I am back in it after a considerable amount of time away from it, and I am fortunate to be learning from a teacher who has given me very helpful advice, and she recommended this site as a place for finding copies of scripts.

Right now I have several ideas for screenplays; one of them is a short film that I wrote (and I have never even conceived or written a short film before) and the others are two feature-length screenplays, one of which I was in the process of writing before I came up with the short film idea. I am hoping to improve in terms of writing dialogue and generally just trying to keep the plot moving in my stories, and also to meet other screenwriters here, and hopefully get some good constructive advice. Glad to be here.

Welcome to SS.

Sorry to hear you were treated badly online in the past. That usually don't happen here unless you don't take criticism well or get political or religious on us.

Good thing to do to get reads for your own scripts is to read and comments on other's.  :)

Hello Pacey,

I don't know what to say about the "getting treated badly". There's a whole lot of that going around on the planet right now. I think it's a virus or something.

Anyways, my advice is Peace, Love and Togetherness. Yachad! and Echad!

And... if you're confused just Google translate it into Hebrew. I don't want to spoil the fun of search and finds.

To quote a hard worker here by the name of Breanne Mattson who has the following up as a quote I admire because I'm constantly confusing people without meaning to:

It's better to have confused readers who want to know what's going on than well informed viewers who don't care.

Nice to meet you,

Sandra

Chris,

Welcome - always refreshing to see people do things the right way and come on and introduce themselves...

And don't worry - I never wrote a short before coming here either, and now I have one tentatively slated for production by a neophyte producer in London. You will learn THAT much here.

I second all of the above.

Welcome to the site and best of luck with your scripts.

Thanks everyone. I think the reason I was treated bad was because I didn't take criticism that well, but in some cases some people were just there to insult me or take shots at me or say "your script sucks, you have no business being a writer," etc. after something I had said. In the case of Project Greenlight, it was just a very intense, very competitive situation that put a lot of stress on me. My purpose as a writer is not to do this to make a buck, it's just that I have a lot of ideas for stories that I want to get down on paper, they may not be the most commercial but I write them because I believe in them and because I think that they may be good ideas. If anyone can provide any useful feedback here, it would be much appreciated. I do think that there is always room for improvement for what I work on, and any advice would be good.
