So, the commercials screamed STAY THE FUCK AWAY, but it was this or Sex and the City 2. Since Sarah Jessica Parker's face makes me violently ill, I picked Prince of Persia.

Okay first off, I normally don't care or even think about the race of an actor and how it pertains to their character but this movie made me cringe. All of the generic soldiers and townsfolk were "brown folk" yet all of the main characters were white dudes with long hair and scruff in a sad attempt to appear persian.

Second, why the fuck was everyone speaking with british accents? Third, this cliche packed movie would have been awesome if it was released in about 1996. Speaking of the year 1996, the CGI looked like it was made in 1996.

Third and a half, whats with the vilians who are evil just for the sake of being evil? And this movie could have done without the shrewish pseudo hot chick who does nothing but yap and yap about prophesies and legends and gets into trouble.

Fourth, all the fucking fights had the camera ONE FUCKING INCH from the characters. You couldn't even see what was going on.

In conclusion, Jake Gyllenhaal really must have needed a paycheck... avoid this movie.  

I read an article about how much time JG had spent getting his British accent down to perfectly match the rest of the cast.  I thought it kinda odd at the time but figured there was a reason for it within the story.  But I guess it was just hollywood logic.

As far as video game movies go, this was/is one of the better ones.

It's a dumb summer movie that doesn't make you think (That's what I would call pretty much every movie nowadays even if they release before or after summer)

I think we Canadians seem to help these movies because you see commercials saying "Number 1 movie in Canada" for pretty much every movie that is released with a big budget.

W, when you talk about "Domestic Box Office", you're referring to North American Box Office (NABO), so yes, Canada is included in there.

With a $200 million dollar budget and buckets of marketing, the film is poised to just break even, largely thanks to runaway business overseas.

There may be more U.S. territories, but I'm crap at geography. =p    

So far, nearly all video game to movie adaps stink to high heaven. I was a little surprised by Prince Of Persia. There was a story in there but it got buried with all sorts of hocus-pocus and a confusing plot device, which I started to regard as a deux ex machina. Once I was proven correct and it was just that, I cringed.

Still, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The FX were so-so, Gemma Atherton is a pretty face, nice figure but she is like her role in Clash Of The Titans - wooden and eye candy, with the depth of a sea turtle. I lost track of which Mage was which.

The ostriches were fine.

You have to ask yourself this question, though... Are the video games really that good to begin with?  I mean, really...  Gaming is, largely, boring.  It's a huge waste of time when you think about it.  Maybe not as a 5 to 15 year old kid, but as you age you really start to see the flaws in their make up.

I've never played a good game that spun a movie afterward.  I really haven't.  And, in retrospect, I've never seen a good movie based on a good game.  Strange.  Uncharted is set for a theatrical release and I'm telling you, Hollywood is dreaming up 101 ways to piss the fanbase off with it.  Let's shoe horn Jackman or Butler into this role.  How about it?  Fuggin' please.

Way I see it though is that you "play" video games" and you watch movies or TV. When we watch movies or TV we can be entertained. When we watch others play video games, not so much. And when it's our turn we get our butts whupped anyway. What fun!

Which reminds me, I started to get into those MMOs. Then when it took me from my hobby (writing) had me doze off during work's lunch hour, being less social and my iggest concern in life was whther or not someone was going to take my Evony castle away from me?

I saw this for Jake Gyllenhaal's arms and, on the basis of Jake Gyllenhaal's arms, this movie was an engaging, visually stunning masterpiece. Naturally, I stopped paying attention to anything else in the movie after about twenty minutes. Bad acting, boring story, unexciting action. Horrible movie. Great arms.

Was not impressed once again.  I actually fell asleep several times, so I missed whatever plot was going on.  My girlfriend said she really liked it, but she's not a tough critic.

I thought the look of the movie was pretty good, actually.  I can see what Disney was aiming for, as it had a definite Pirates feel to it..just not nearly on the same level though.

Completely forgettable, IMO.
