SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  I should introduce myself
Posted by: Eoin, September 30th, 2010, 3:58pm
I joined this forum last year when I posted my first short. I didn't really get involved or get to know people, which is my fault. I have logged on every now again in that period of time  and read the unproduced script of the day, but thats about it.

After posting my second short a few weeks back, I decided to make a concerted effort in reading people's work and commenting on it as best I can and perhaps getting to know the people who use this site a little better too.

So, who am I? Well, my names Eoin and I'm Irish. If you read some of my stuff, you'll notice that along with the usual amateur shortcomings, there's an Irish flavour to the way I write. I'm very new to scriptwriting. No formal classes etc just hoping to learn on the fly and improve by reading scripts and having mine read. I have a semi pro acting background, dabbled in writing a few 1 act and 3 act plays.

Currently working on a black comedy.

Other than that, not really very much to say for myself! Anything you'd like to know, just ask!

Eoin,

Welcome aboard.

I like the way you've gone about joining the community. The post it and run brigade really piss people off, so it's nice to see someone willing to give a little back.

I do what I can, when I can. Like a lot of others on this site I work very long hours and don't get a chance to read or post until I get home. Months will  sometimes go by, before I can actually spend a little time writing or reading and critiquing a few scripts.

Best of luck

Malcolm

Hey Malcolm, here you on the long hours, I'm on the road alot at the moment only for my iPhone it would be nigh impossible to contribute.

Thanks for replying to my post, hope to see you around and read some of your work.

Eoin. Great name. For those not familiar with the land of saints and scholars and guinness and huge debts and no work and socialism for banks that may bring down the whole country it's pronounced Owen.

Read some of your stuff and it's good. Keep it going. I'd say Ireland and the rest of the world could do with a good black comedy soon. G'luck with it.

Rse! xo

@ Colkurtz8: If you use a slur, I prefer the term Paddy! :)

@ MCornetto: 'you're the chocolate at the end of my, cornetto' . . .  name that lyric :)

Changed my screen name from badbaz to Eoin and uploaded a profile pic - seems more genuine - and may also be a little confusing for a while - so sorry about that!

Hello and welcome.

More Irish is never a bad thing, along with the good amount of Aussies and Poms we have already in the community we are certainly a match for the Septics.

Most don't know they're called Septics, Murphy.  You should explain to the Yanks why they're called that. :-)

haha, of course Mr C.

Cockney Rhyming slang for American's is Septic, short for Septic Tank, which rhymes with Yank.

Cockney's are a bit mad like that.
