SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Informally, a formal introduction
Posted by: Violent Josh, October 8th, 2010, 8:27pm
Greetings new friends.

My name is Josh and I like to party.

J/K. Figured I'd been lurking creepily around these boards for some months, might as well create myself account.

I've read a lot of the unproduced screenplays and should be posting my reviews as such.

I'm going to submit a short I wrote a few years back. A silly little thing that lacks in silly little areas.

Digression aside, glad to be here. I like reading scripts, so if you post in here (welcoming or screaming to GTFO) and you have something needs reading, I'll do it.

Hey welcome, Josh.  Violence RULES!!!  I like to party as well.  So do a bunch of these drunk pigs in here.

You should check out the Halloween OWC, which is about to start.  Damn good way to intro yourself with an OWC entry.

Enjoy!

Reading and reviewing scripts (with more than one line generic praise) is another way to introduce yourself.

Hey Josh, glad you finally joined up.

Believe me, don't listen to Jeff. He liked 2012. Lol. Just kidding, kind of. He did. He is right about the OWC (if you've been lurking, I'm sure you know that's short for One Week Challenge, but just in case...) and if you enter, it should be a great way to incorporate yourself into the community in a hurry... so long as you read and review others'. =)

Good luck.

EDIT: Damn it, Phil! Why'd you have to be faster than me? =(

Why am I smarter?
Why am I more handsome?
Why am I sexier?

I just am!

Well, you know, if you know which silly areas it lacks in, you might try fixing those before you submit it. Just saying.

Welcome to the boards all the same. Hope you learn a lot from this lot. I sure continue to.

I recommend this path.
It's how I met Phil and learned the merits of smoking weed on rooftops. =p

Jeff, (2nd post and already on a 1st name basis? Told ya I was creepy) I'm a bit surprised you didn't tear my initial post apart to point out the grammar/spelling issues.  :D Only kidding. You probably have the most constructive criticism I've seen. Respect.

Thanks, man. I fully intend to submit to the OWC.

Well, it's a fairly unfilmable effort unless you're super good with clay. It's not my baby; I don't mind if things don't sit exactly right, but I think it's a fun read.

They used to call me Placid Ren. They've since dropped that. They now call me The Whiskey Fucking Drinking Tosser from Eire.

Welcome.

Seeing as I just came back from Liverpool I think everyone should

Hello. I'm Carolynn and I'm currently working on writing some stories from my husbands youth. Although, I am not a professional writer, we are deciding to put these stories into a script format and having a hard time doing it. That is why I am here. I'm looking for a screen/script writer who can think outside of the box and is wanting to take on a challenge. I say this because these are not your ordinary stories but we believe it has marketability. We have taken the steps to register and copy write the material and concepts. We just need a treatment and pitch-able script. Anyone interested, please reply. I can sure use it.

You might want to make your own thread for this... I don't think Violent Josh's introduction to the site would be a great place to showcase your wants and needs from the site.  Could be wrong, but it just comes off like your crashing his party.  Not that I care eitherway, but you might get more responses if you did make your own thread.  Go to the "General" board and start new thread and post it.

Thanks... I just worked a 15+ hour day and I'm exhausted. I didn't realize I was crashing someones party. I'll repost somewhere else....

Balt's advice is more of advice for you, Carolynn.  You'd get better exposure with your own intro thread.

I'm sorry, I just read back over what I said and it reads a little rough.  I didn't mean to imply you did wrong, I was just trying to get you pointed in the right direction.  Few people will come here and read what you said the way it is.  Sorry if you took it the wrong way.
