Was gonna put this in the film section but haven't seen it.

This is the novel 'The Town was based on - the original title was Prince Of Thieves. I picked it up at the library and have really got into it!

The author, Chuck Hogan co-wrote another book The Strain, with the director Guillermo Del Toro, whcih i read last year.

This book is great! I read some reviews of the film(not too many so I didn't get spoilers for the book) and comparisons were made with Heat, which i agree with.

It could have been written as a straight out action heist thriller and would be good, but the author has put in the little details about the setting in Boston, and the way of life for these 'Irish' residents of the 'town.

I'm hoping that the film did the book justice- anyone out there read this and seen the flick?
Something odd I noticed too - a couple of the character names - Jem and Gloansy? Very similair to some ex-Oasis members? Could be just a coincidence...

Anyway i'm halfway through this novel and loving it. Then i have Freedom to read, by Daniel Suarez, the sequel to Daemon. Recommended by Rick and great stuff!!

Cheers stevie
