Hello, I read your script. I enjoyed it very much, you have a real good story and great characters. It had my tuned in from start to finish, and I couldn't stop reading it. I like how portrayed the main character, the rapper, as an intellegent person despite his limitation and not a stereotype. Plus, I feel it's a commentary on rappers and values today. Most of them have the talent, but they can't read, keep track of their money, or articulate a sentence. Has this been performed as a play?

You should definitely turn this into a screenplay. It has total movie potential. If you

The difference between a script for a play and screenplay is a script for play is more detailed from started to finish as far as settings, characters and dialogue. A screenplay is less detailed but still be descriptive. A script for play is telling what you're going to do. A screenplay you have to show what you're gonna do. Plus, I'm starting to learn scenes are written in beats, not in long paragraphs.

You should read screenwriting books like "Screenplay" by Syd Field or "Writing Screenplays That Sell" by Michael Hauge. Plus, read scripts posted on this site, and other sites like mypdfscripts.com. I read Syd Field's and it was worth it for sure, although he gets a bit hung up on the three part story idea. Worth the money though, and it's on the Kindle or iBooks. Also, remember that plays is a story told with words and dialogue and movies are told with pictures. i.e. In a play, you may have a character talk to himself in a mirror saying "I am very sad because my house foreclosed, my bills are stacking up and my wife left me." Where in a movie, you show a stack of bills, a foreclosure sign and him trying to call his wife and she doesn't pick up. Also, using a formatting software helps me a ton with margins and such. Also reading criticism for others works shows me people look for in mistakes and how to avoid them.

On your play, I like it and so far it reminded me a lot of The Soloist or August Rush. Very good story, an Oscar concept as well.

One last thing, logline has a mistake.

You use a comma to start the appositive, but never finish it and musician is spelled wrong. Perhaps like this?

Have you tried to get this on stage? If not, you should really look into theatre groups or Off-Broadway troupes in your city to get this play performed. Also, if you're in college or not, contact with the head of the college's theatre department to see if the school's theatre group would be interested in performing it on stage. This has great potential for a play and movie like I've said before.

It is my pleasure to announce that I have decided to turn A Rapper's College into a stage play and eventually independently produce it as a motion picture. Auditions will begin in Chicago, October 2012. I hope you are looking as much forward to the finished product as I am. Thanks for all your help and encouragement. Peace!
