SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  September 2011 One Week Challenge  /  Important addition to the OWC
Posted by: Don, September 15th, 2011, 5:44pm
Folks,

Brett "Zombie Playground" Martin has donated his "pitch/query tune up" by Babz Betila to the "Writer's Choice" selectee for this month's One Week Challenge

Thanks, Brett, for giving back to the community.

Each writer, before "who wrote what" is announced, will be asked to submit the names of up to three scripts he/she likes best and feels best fits within the theme of the OWC.  The writer of the Writer's Choice script will have the opportunity to have Babz Betila do a "pitch/query tune up" of his/her work of choice.*

*  IMPORTANT NOTE and DISCLAIMER: This isn't script coverage!  This is a review of a pitch - See this thread with regard to what a pitch is.

If, for any reason (illness or alien invasion or complete misunderstanding on my part) the "pitch/query tune up" doesn't materialize, the Writer's Choice writer will receive a crappy SimplyScripts coffee mug.

Don

I didn't even know we have mugs! ;D

Here's the background info on Babz's prize...

She was offering a query letter tune up to someone that answered a trivia question.
I decided to donate my prize to our intrepid OWCers.
Here's her exact words so there's no confusion as to what she's offering:

I'll be toiling away at the Screenwriting Expo all weekend, so have fun!
I look forward to reading everyone's scripts when I return

Regards,
E.D.

You don't want to know, Pia.  You don't want to know...

CUT TO Stevie's kitchen, as he opens a cupboard, revealing 36 SS coffee mugs.

Stevie turns to the camera and grins.

FADE OUT:

It is not a crappy coffee mug! 'Tis only a crappy coffee mug if you put crap in it!   (Or Dr. Oz's Apple Juice.)

Actually what the mug should have is all the reads/reviews of the OWC in blurbs like

" I loved it!"
" I hated it!"
"You did a good job"
" You forgot to FADE IN!" (Note: I can actually "see" that on a coffee mug)

Note: if I come in second, I would ask for shot glasses instead.

When did everybody start "third personing" themselves?

Shawn already found a printer in China to pump these ba$tards out.

Add it to the stimulus package.

You will all have to wait until tomorrow for a proper response to what has to be the funniest thread, ever.

This may be the next new logo for SimplyScripts

Pia, thank you, because really, one coat of wax on the ten year old mini-van just doesn't bring out the the shine.

More proper response tomorrow.

Yeah, Pia, give Don's mini-van a real good wax. ;-)

I know what's really in the coffee mug:

Mike Shelton's Pimp Juice!!! It's all just conspiracy to throw us off track.

I have one of those coffee cups, too. Don sent it to me.  :P

It's not crappy by any means. I love it and drink my morning coffee out of it everyday.

Or: Screw the story, characterization or visual descriptions - there are too many damned orphans!

That aside, everyone can have the mug.  But I'm laying claim to the charming gentleman holding it....

Or...

The story is boring, the characterization sucks, the visuals are non existent, but great job on cutting down on the orphans.  I didn't see too many of the little fellas running around this time.

I'm drowning them in the coffee mug, personally.

I just rounded up a horde of the little buggers in the last script I read.  I'm shipping them all off to Iraq, so they can waste all the space they want to over there, where no one will care.
