Never has justice been doled out with so many slow-motion power-slaps and relentless belt whippings.

Singham is great retro fun if you're a fan of Bollywood action films.

Despite an unfortunately anticlimactic third act, there's a solid story, and more than enough super-slow-motion slapping, to keep anyone entertained.  At 2:20, it's lean and mean for a Bollywood flick, and it's paced lightning quick.  The comedy's good, the romance is well-placed, the villain is despicable, and the eponymous protagonist is appropriately mustached and muscled.

The only problem for me was the music.  Aside from the absolutely awesome theme song, the rest of the soundtrack was highly unmemorable.  Of course, the theme song is reprised constantly throughout the movie, usually while Singham walks around in super-slow-motion immediately before or immediately after slapping people and whipping them with his belt.

Seriously, he slaps everybody.  He slaps the bad guys, he slaps the good guys, he slaps ministers, he slaps his romantic lead.  It's awesome.

A whole lot of fun, and if not that, an interesting look at cultural values surrounding crime, justice, and violence.  Plus, that bangin' theme song.  "The heart races, the body trembles, when you know he's coming...Singham!"
