SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Hey!
Posted by: Shelton, January 14th, 2012, 1:38am
Kind of weird posting an introductory type post in the getting to know you thread after being a member here for about 7 years, but I have no clue who the hell half of you are so here goes...

The name's Shelton.  Been a member here for about 7 years (as stated above), and in that time I've written some pretty decent scripts (that you probably haven't read) and briefly hosted the SS radio show.  Is that still going on?

Anyway, I've been watching the boards (my duties as a mod) and noticing there are far too many people I don't know.  So, who are you?  What are you working on?  Did you know Phil just caught on to Chuck Norris jokes six months ago?  These are the kinds of questions that open up dialogue and rapport, and may make me less likely to hand you your ass if you go off on a religious tirade like Screenrider.

Be my friend,

Shelton

Don't think I've ever read any of your work, Shelton. Eventhough it does come highly recomemnded. I just stick to those who've been active on the boards. You haven't been.

I'm cool with mods not reviewing scripts, tho. Most don't unless asked.  I've heard you're good at comedy, I like comedy. What's the fave comedy you've ever written... That I can find on these boards?

No favorites....I love all my children.

As far as what's available here, I would recommend Pimp Juice or The Order of Things based on what you're looking for.  One's vulgar, the other romantic.  The titles should give away which is which.

Yep, The Order of Things is one of the most vulgar comedies I've ever read.

Welcome back Shelton.

Yo-yo yiggidy-yo Shelton.
What's crackalackin? No? ;D Ok, I'll stop with the lame jokes! :X

I have seen you like everywhere but I've never seen any of your scripts so I wouldn't mind looking at one if you want me to read it. My name is Mohammad and I'm very new to the boards so.. yeah! ;D I'm working on an exorcism type feature atm but I recently sent a short to SimplyScripts about 5 days ago so it should be up soon.

Anyway, there you go! I think this should mean we're friends? ::)

See you later alligator! (too soon?)

Mohammad

Hey Shelton,

It’s nice of you to introduce yourself to the newbs like myself who may have seen your name around but wouldn’t know who you are.

My names Steve and I have been on SS for about six weeks. I’m still very new to screenwriting and learning new things everyday with the help of everybody on SS.

I have written only one short so far but am slowly putting together a feature which is a lot harder than first anticipated. I will go and give one of your mentioned scripts a read because I get the feeling it will be a good, fun read.

Also, I guarantee you won’t be getting a religious tirade from me!

All the best

Steve.

Hey Shelton

Been here a year myself, but only started annoing the h@ll out of everyone about 11 months ago. No sign of letting up though!

There are Chuck Norris jokes? Man, I still have a lot to learn.

As for my own work, kind of at a crossroads. I think there are people that have the talent to make it in this, but never do because they don't perservere. And there are people that don't have the talent but keep trying to climb that mountain. I don't want to be either. So it's a quandary. For now, gonna keep slogging through those lower trails at the base. If you look down, you'll see some of us watching you guys further up to see what you do. The higher you climb, the more you show us.

Hey Mike,

Been clogging the forums here myself since September 2010.
The site's been immeasureably valuable in helping my career trajectory.
Looking forward to seeing you around more!

Regards,
E.D.

Hi Shelton, I'm Roy aka Arty. Pleased to meet you.

I'm currently working on a feature, but saying that, I have been for months. I've got 28 pages. It's a romantic comedy but I don't particularly like that term. I'd rather call it an amusing drama but that doesn't have the same punch I guess.

I shall have to check out your work, I'm partial to a vulgar comedy every now and then.

I would also like to echo Steve by saying I won't bother anyone with a religious tirade either. I have a script idea that may offend most religions though. Change the word 'may' for 'will probably' and it's more realistic. Not sure I have the balls for it just yet though.

Well, again, pleased to meet you.

I remember some short about two guys shooting it out in an office bldg. It was funny.

Thank you for the "welcome", guys.

Phil,

I didn't wan't to flat out say "ball tingling awesomeness", so I thought decent would suffice.

Not sure how much I'll be writing, if at all, right now.  Working two jobs Mon-Fri, and using the weekends to spend time with my kids and do things around the house, so free time is at a premium.
