you'd written what would it be?

So, yeah, I'm sure this topic or a variant of it exists somewhere on the board, but what the hell.

I'm intrigued what my fellow writers would say is the script they wished they'd authored.

One film, one TV script.

For me:

Film: Network (1976)
TV show: The Office (2001 UK)

You?

Interesting. ;D

This one is near impossible for me to decide. There are about 20 films I would like to put down here ;D

Film: Fight Club (1999)
TV Show: Death Note (2006)

I'm still not too sure about my movie choice but very sure about my TV show. I mean, a notebook that kills anybody who's name is written on it. Why didn't I think of that! ;D

Good question, Andrew.

I agree with Mohammad and find this difficult to answer but mine would be:

Film: The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
TV show: Dexter (2006)

And just for fun: Howard the Duck (1986) Yeah! ;D ;D

Film: The Rock

TV show: Star Trek: The Next Generation (some episodes, anyway.  Heck I'd settle for just 5.25 [The Inner Light])

I think for me it wouldn't be my favourite film, it would be a script that I would aspire to, if that makes sense.

So mine  are;

Film : The Seventh Seal

TV : MASH

No doubt I will think differently next week

Film: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
This screenplay is so well thought out, I find it amazing. Kaufman created his own world here and I can never explain enough how much this movie puts me in awe with each re-watch.

TV: Friday Night Lights/Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip
Friday Night Lights is really brought together by the whole team but to have a series that manages to never lose steam and maintain such emotional involvement is incredible, the characters in this show are extremely well written. As for Studio 60, really anything by Aaron Sorkin, his dialogue is unbeatable.

Film: Basket Case 3: The Progency

TV: Threads (80's BBC post apocalyptic eye-bleeder).

Good topic as always, Andrew.

Funnily enough, my choices are very similar to yours.

Film: Pulp Fiction (with Network a close second)

TV: The Office (UK Version)

Some interesting choices. Are we all secretly tring to emulate these classics in our own writing, I wonder.

Very choice to choose just one. I chose mine 'cos of their uniqueness and how they cut through.

Would've loved to have written RoboCop, too. I harp on about it constantly and its effotless melding of action and political commentary. I'd (certainly) buy that for a dollar.
