Umm... wasn't the bad guy devoured by voracious tumors?
Well, yeah. But our hero becomes a twisted reflection of him, in my mind. Hence, the sorta.
It's the best I had this morning. :P

Well, I meditated on this subject for a spell. These two the good guys don't get away it. But hey, it works! And not only did I come up with one, it's a double feature.
As in, both these films were a drive in double feature from Fox! ;D

Noah Cross (John Huston) gets shot at the end but he oddly seems to take it in his stride a little too well. The only piece of suspect acting in an otherwise masterpiece.
So yeah, your memory serves you well, Mark but shame on you for not seeing it in so long. Sort it out NOW!

Not really a conventional bad guy, but the ending of Syriana deserves a mention for its villain succeeding – especially strong when you consider its context.
Also one of the finest films made in the last 20 plus years, IMO.

LOL! I was watching this last night and thinking it should be here on the list! Love the BluRay transfer of this, so tasty looking.
Noah Cross gets shot in the shoulder/arm, hence the shrug off. He makes such a small deal about it, you can blink and miss it. Which I like, since he's so obsessed with the female in question.

Wait, if I remember the ending of Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, the bad guys(the three leads) die in the very last shot, right? Or am I remembering this wrong?

They get hit, or drive into a train, don't they?

Yep, the train smashes em.

Inside Man - Clive Owen, Denzel Washington
Flawless - Michael Caine, Demi Moore
The above two films have antagonists that are more anti-villains. _______
Not one of my favorites, but I just saw "the Hole" with Thora Birch and Keira Knightley. The bad apple definitely gets away.

-- Yeah but no matter where you get shot and how you feel about the girl in question I can only imagine it would still hurt a lot more than Huston lets on. It always struck me as strange since he's brilliant in every other scene.
The quote on my sig is one of my favourite lines from a near perfect script. Its all about his delivery complete with toothy, malevolent smile when forced to repeat the line in order to get his imperative across. A really effective, unsettling moment as Jake realises he's dealing with a sinister, not-to-be-fu?ked-with individual.

The anti hero payroll robbers and the girl make a train sandwich. Anti hero demises were big in film at this time in Hollywood.
I guess all this really belongs in "The Anti Hero doesn't Get Away with it" thread. But those movies fulfill the spirit of "The Man" getting away with it, IMO.
"Bonnie & Clyde" would fit into that category too. "Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid" has to be in there as well.
I guess I'm drawn to the anti hero getting nailed for bucking the system. ;D

Natural Born Killers- I can see what it is trying to represent, with the media frenzy and all but I just simply didn't like it.

Match Point, the Woody Allen film. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers gets away scott-free in that...apart from still bring trapped in his stultifying marriage.

Excellent satire!! One of my top ten of all time. Would be even more relevant today with our obsession of fame, violence and gossip media/news entertainment.

I'm surprised no one mentioned "The Player" because it's exactly what the movie is about. So I'll mention it.

Yeah, true I can imagine some Z-list celebrities in the UK going on a killing spree to extends their fame (Ah an idea in the making!)
The Player is hand down, one of my all time favourite- beautifully crafted.

I think we've got a lot of these already covered. but...
Ok, I'm on board with all of these except, "The Last Starfighter". The baddies' spaceship crashes into a planet during the climax.
Wait... Was there an escape pod scene in that film? Wow, that little runt was such a lame villain, I forgot what happened to him! ;D Cuz the cool lizard General dude went down with the ship. Right?

The wicker man - 1973 - Brit horror, although hardly counts as horror by modern standards.
Haven't yet been able to watch it all, the demands of family, but I've seen the final scene and understand the outcome.
Had a completely unexpected scene of a naked Brit eckland - now that was a highlight, worth watching alone.
Interesting film so far. Has a decent story running through it, simple to understand yet complicated underneath. A good sense of foreboding.

Would be even better if he put on that green monster suit from The Oregonian ;D ;D ;D
Now that's funny. I'd like to see both disguises utilized...which just may be a great idea for a new script, and a sure way to attract Nic Cage's interest.

Thats easy, the Usual Suspects, great cast, great script, great film, and the final sequence is out of this world. I love it when the bad guy gets away :)
