SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Simplyscripts Collaborative Effort  /  Writing Partner Wanted
Posted by: Rexmano, March 19th, 2012, 11:04am
Hello All, I just joined SimplyScripts. I am aggressively looking for a script-writing partner. About a decade ago I produced and directed two indie features and I'm working on a third now as a co producer and director. I'm not a good writer ;( obviously I'd want someone much much stronger and better than me in that department. What I'll bring to the relationship is a great sense of story structure, concept generation and the most difficult in my opinion, "hustling" to getting our project funded and made. I am looking to make a critically acclaimed art-house/festival film in the $1M-3M range. My interests are in Drama, Comedy, Romance, Crime/Gangster and "contained" War/Conflict in Third World settings. No interest in Sci-fi, Psycho-Thriller, Mystery, Fantasy, Documentary or Horror. An ideal partner will be someone with imagination, prior scriptwriting experience, an unwavering commitment and dedication in starting and finishing a project.
Any interests out there, please contact me through my email: rex.rexmano@gmail.com
Thank you and happy writing!!

Hi Rex -

Curious as to the indies that you've done - what are the titles, links to IMDB?  And...welcome to SS!

Send me a half page synopsis of your story idea and I will then think if it suits my genre of writing or not. If it does, then we can take a shot at it. But, before you send me anything, I would like to have an open dialog, create a good rapport and then move forward. Usually, people are very wary about their story ideas and IPs -- so would I be and so should you be. Send me an introductory email first. Then we take it from there. You'd be surprised if you ever collaborate with a writer like me.
Sincerely,
J. R.

Yeah, do you have a story you're looking to develop or are you looking to start from scratch?

@ cinemachado I would prefer to start a new story from scratch together after brainstorming genres, ideas, concepts, tone etc. Please email your thoughts...Thanks.

Best of luck on your project. Wish due respect, have you looked around at the hundreds of scripts on this site to see if maybe one would suit your needs?

I mean there is every Genre you seek right here within the many categories posted. You might find one that’s already polished and waited to be picked up and shot.

Another suggestion; Give some specifics of what exactly you want in the script. You don’t have to give your story away but some details may help some of the posters here guide you to something that’s right up your alley.

Again, best of luck and good hunting.

Hi Shawn,
I don't have any particular genre in mind outside the ones you quoted. I have a smattering of log-lines within said genres.

Send me some of your comedy or drama log lines if you want.

I'm not the most experienced writer here but I have a half dozen features and a couple dozen shorts under by writing belt.

I’d be interested in seeing if where your heads at and see if we see eye to eye on any of them.

I'll look for your PM if you're interested.

Hi Rex -

Do you have any links to the indie films you've already done?  That way, we can get a feel for your style upfront....

Thx,
