I can't get past page two here. It's got to have the oddest start to a film ever - a discussion of crusty toes ... and then some dodgy dialogue, followed by a captain who actually says "Ahhhhhhh, ... ". You know, I actually doubt any real-life captains honestly said anything of the kind - but then what do I know?

One small issue at the start: Prior to J.R.R. Tolkien, elves were seen as short, dumpy creatures and not so much as Legolas. But maybe that’s what you were going for?

Aside from that, my first impression is that you’re a skilled writer. Your writing has the right level of description and the dialogue feels natural. Additionally, your knowledge of period and nautical terms also wins you points.

I read up to page 10. I do like your writing, but I’m not a big fan of “meet the natives” stories. However, anyone that does enjoy this sort of story will really like your work.
