SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board / Questions or Comments / Copyright of Merged Shorts
Posted by: Alex_212, August 15th, 2012, 2:06am
Hi guys (yes another thread by me) AGAIN.
After reading a thread where Angry Bear got shafted over a short being done as a feature I thought I would protect my shorts and not the ones covering my Arse.
My next step now that I have merged 6-7 shorts (previous thread) is to get them copyrighted as one registration.
I recall reading a post on this some time back though cant find it now, Where is the best place/website to register a PDF for protection???
I dont think I will go to the WGA and I feel a copyright will cover the protection I require.
I noticed I can register this for copyright in Australia which covers 164 countries and costs $49 AU. Is this any different to the US registration ? and do you have to be a resident of the US to use that service ?
http://copyright-australia.com/register_an_invention_a_creative_work.aspxJust thought I would ask you guys that are in the Know.
Regards Alex

Hey, Alex.
A few months back, I was looking through that same Australian copyright website but it looked a little dodgy and because it's not associated with any section of the Government, I'd suggest not using it. The LOC accepts all countries as far as I know and I think it lets you merge shorts as well? Good luck with it.
