SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Screenwriting Class  /  Help TITLE and Subtitle Fade In
Posted by: XL (Guest), September 18th, 2012, 9:38am
Going for a Stars Wars type opening, copy on black background, subtitle superimposed over scene of large industrial park.

FADE IN:

BLACK.

TITLE: IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE, THE REMNANTS OF
HUMANITY STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE THE HARDSHIPS AND VIOLENCE WHICH
FOLLOW AN APOCALYPTIC EVENT.

SUPER: Industrial park 30 miles outside of Chicago, nine
months after the Event.

EXT. INDUSTRIAL PARK - DAY - ESTABLISHING

The warehouses are large…blah, blah, blah.

Is the correct?

M. Alexander,

I've read the link you posted and uncertain if I've done this step in the dance correctly.

I'm a compete and utter noob who has never written a script….Never. This is my first attempt.

My question is posted in Scriptwriting Class thread.

Don't be so uncharitable. One day you may need some help too.

Maybe like this:

FOLLOW AN APOCALYPTIC EVENT.

Uncharitable?  I've geen called many things but that's not one of them.

(I suggest the first example in the above link)

You're welcome.   Sorry you took my attempt to help out the wrong way.

Cheers

Going for a Stars Wars type opening...

Then don't forget the "SCROLL:"

You can find the use of that convention in the link provided by that uncharitable puss M.Alexander   :)

M.Alexander,

I responded to your comment saying I had looked at the link you posted AND was still not sure I was doing it correctly.

The marital status of my mother is another matter.

THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING AND POSTING THE LINK.

M.ALexander,

My most humble apologies. I revisited the link you posted and sure enough, there is was Text to Begin or End a Film way off to the right, beyond the bezel of the screen on my tiny little lap top.

Can we kiss and make up? (please, no tongues)....I think this is pretty charitable coming from a man you just called a bastard.

Bert,

I know I said STAR WARS, but do you think that little bit of copy is worthy of a SCROOL?

No hard feelings.  In my world it's okay to call someone a bastard just as long as  I put one of  :o these beside it.   Means it's a term of endearment.

Write on.

And try to utilize that script toolbox.  It's a plethora of info.

Also Babz Buzz.

Personally, no.  That is your call.  And then when you do it or do not do it somebody can post and tell you that you should do the opposite of whatever you did.

Nature of the beast.  Just ensuring you are armed with all the options.
